My friend got this couch for free from a friend when he moved into his apartment. He would like nice English leather chairs to go with it, but he's a poor college student living on his own. So what are some better alternatives??

I see that couch with a nice soft khaki/cream painted wall and big glass hurricane vases with vanilla candles in them. You can log onto craigslist.com and find your city to search for 'furniture' there is even a 'free' section to look at too. There are awesome deals on there. He should find a cheap wood coffee table, (box-like, maybe even a trunk) and beat it up and stain it dark walnut. Maybe frame an old world map on the wall. As far as chairs that would go with it? I would choose nice woven wicker or rattan chairs in a dark walnut color (same color as table) and put cream cushions on them. Oh, I am having so many ideas! Let me at this room!! I could go on, so let me know if you even like this theme lol

Wow what a beautiful sofa??? no couch ok.

The best way for a student to get something is to talk with friends. If anyone is moving then try luck again. Or go to garage sale. Check classified advertisement.

Do you know here in Japan if we want to dispose off something we must have to call garbage collector to collect then we pay for that. Garbage in Japan is costly now a days. Therefore people think before they throw.

Check the yard sale locations in the newspaper for the weekend. Or, it's called "Treasure Seekers" in our classified ads (people who are selling different items). Antique stores. Goodwill. "Big Lots" are cheaper & the furniture looks alright. Neighborhoods (nice ones) where people have put things out on the street to get rid of. Put an ad in the paper yourself, describing what you want & how much you want to pay for it. You'll find one!

He could use a nice material chair to compliment it. Also maybe a wooden chair or more contemporary piece. Do you live near an IKEA or go on line. Great stuff cheap!!!!!!!!! I love that store. Good luck.
