Because as many as there are religions, so is there many interpretations of the bible. Most religions pick what they want out of the bible to suit their religious beliefs.
We all believe in the same God, but people think of him or call him different names. That doesn't make him any less of a God or many Gods. He's just one.

There were no major controversies for a thousand years after Christ, because the Church He founded was living according to His plan. The controversies are the result of the introduction of manmade denominational religion, in direct violation of His stated will, "that they all may be ONE"; the rejection of the God-given authority of His Church; and the untenable, unbiblical manmade tradition of sola scriptura, which guarantees doctrinal chaos and continuous fragmentation. There is simply no substitute for God's plan, and God's plan is clearly UNITY, subject to the genuine AUTHORITY of His own Church, under the guidance of the one who holds the keys to the kingdom.

"And WITHOUT controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (1st Timothy 3:16 KJV)
End of controversy.

So many controversies and opinions?
Because so many do not allow the bible to interpret
the writings,(2Tim 3:16.17). many pick and chose
from the scriptures and come away with
what they/want and chose.
John 17:3.

Actually, their isn't only one holy bible.
Almost every religion has their own book which was either supposed to have been written by their God or by a messenger of that God, or something similar.
