I have excessive scarring on my back from nails, and I was wondering if there is any over the counter solutions, or should I seek a dermatologist for professional advice?

Your best bet would be to see a dermatologist. Many of the over the counter preparations now available work well only on fairly recent scars and scars that are quite mild.
