use of vista with hp scanner 4300c?

i have Vista with a HP Photosmart rinter C3180, and they work perfect together.

The HP Scanjet 4300c Scanner Is Not Supported in Windows Vista. :-(

As HP do NOT support the 4300C in Vista, their last support was for XP only. There is an easy way around, and the program will work in Vista (maybe 7?)

Download the XP drivers from here...

UNZIP the downloaded file and look for the application sj555
Right click on it, go to properties and select compatibility mode and tick the box for XP Service Pack 2, then apply, and click OK
Run the app sj555 (i ran it as administrator to make sure) the program will ask if it ok to create and unzip to a folder called C:\sj555 select ok and wait until its finished.
Go into computer and find the folder at C:\sj555, open it and look for an application called setup
Right click on it, go to properties, select compatibility mode, select run as XP service pack 2, apply and then OK
Right click on it and select run as administrator and wait for the setup to finish.

Enjoy your scanner because it now works, despite some of the stupid and wrong advice on this page!

Believe me, the HP Scanjet 4300c Scanner is Vista compatible, otherwise, HP wouldn't have drivers for it on the link I've given below.
