And they have been talking a lot for a few days, now according to her:
this is the last thing im goin to mention bout him but he has txtd me over the last 3 days sayin he loves me at some point in the day im scared.

What should I tell her? I have been quite blunt to my needy friend and told her to cut off contact.

Make her tell him to stop. If he continues to text her, report him for harrassment. Tell her to be careful and not to give him any more of her personal information, because this guy could be big trouble. This should naver have gotten this far. At that age, three years is a lot of age difference. If he even is actually 17...

You're right in telling her to cut off all contact with him. There is always the chance that he is not 17 at all, but a wierd old bloke pretending. If you think about it, I can't imagine a normal 17 year old lad being interested in a 14 year old anyway? Unless she is very old for her age. It's just too wierd, tell her to delete his contact details and put a block on any incoming messages.

Another suggestion would be that if you can talk to your mum about it, express your concerns and maybe your mum can talk to hers. It's always dangerous to give a child exclusive access to the Internet as there is all kinds of wrong stuff on there.

When someone could be in a dangerous position, you have to be blunt to get through to them the seriousness of the situation. You were right to tell her to cut off contact. At fourteen, she is very vulnerable and open to all sorts of predators online.
Because of her age and the seriousness of her conversation with you, I really think that you have no option but to tell her parents. She might be mad at you for doing it but you'd rather see her safe and mad at you than dead with you wishing you'd said something.

Oh dear, so did you know this man online first? how did he get your number? have you met him in person? Are you jealous of your friend or are you worried he might be stalking her too? Does she think you're being blunt because she thinks you're interfering? Yes it does seem weird someone claiming to be 17 wanting interest in a 14 year old child, its also seen as illegal if sexual so i hope theyre not chatting about that. Im glad you speak up after worrying about her safety, i'd tell her parent or guardian about it.

If he is 17 and she is 14 he will end up in big trouble- maybe you should tell her mum because he knows what he is doing is wrong.
