ahh, I'm an Atheist and the only real "religion" that I could see myself following, and kind of have followed, would be Buddhism.

And why is that? Buddhism has no god. It is a religion all about peace and finding happiness in yourself and in the world. But you ask, "Isn't Buddha a god? They worship him, don't they?" Well..yes, they do woship him LIKE he is a god, but he isn't. He is the founder of the religion, possessed god-like abilities, but he was just a man (like Jesus).

Buddhism is the most accepting religion. They encourage every religion to come to their monasteries and their monks are some of the nicest people that I have ever met. They are all about peace in the world..and isn't that most important? Uniting all religions together so no blood is shed? Sure, I am an Atheist, but I also like to practice peace. I "follow" Buddhism...and hope to one day live in a monastery for some time, void of all materialistic things. I think it would be quite an eye-opener for the world to find how nice it actually would be.

But other than Buddhism, I know I wouldn't. Of course it's possible, anyone can change their mind about anything over a period of time. I used to HATE sauerkraut with a passion. And now I love it! I used to love meat...and now I'm a vegetarian! Anyone can change..either for the good or the worse.

Such is life.

i used to be an agnostic non-theist. i did no longer believe in God, yet by no ability ruled out the prospect thoroughly. the two way, i actually hated faith with a vengeance. i ended up having some nightmarish stories and spent many weeks questioning I had long previous loopy. Then I spent the nighttime at my mom and dad' abode, and my mom witnessed some thing occurring to me on a similar time as i replaced into asleep, some thing that replaced into neither brought about via me, nor ought to or no longer it incredibly is controlled via me. I converted very at as quickly as and have been a spiritual Christian ever considering that. i attempted various distinctive church homes, commencing from the Roman Catholic Church, to the Messianic Jewish Temple, to the Southern Baptist Church, and each thing in between, and finally ended up a shown, Orthodox Lutheran. i'm greater effective than happy approximately the place i'm now, and can't see myself giving up my faith in God and Christ for all of us or something. Peace, Drew

Yes, it happens.
Atheism is simply the lack of belief in any gods. I don't know anyone who had a well reasoned, intellectual position on why they didn't believe in any gods who then converted. I'm sure it's happened, but I'm sure it's rather rare.
I have seen people who didn't believe in gods convert, though. Usually it's the sort who seems more peeved at god and therefore decides not to believe in him anymore who converts back. The ones I've seen convert were, as I recall, only those that I felt uncomfortable being categorized with in the first place. I have met some very intelligent, educated and thoughtful Christians who lost their faith in God after much questioning. I can't say I've seen intelligent, educated and thoughtful atheists convert to any religion- but I don't deny that it could happen for emotional reasons.

An athiest can convert to religion, purely because there is nothing stopping them from joining a religion other than their own free will - And we all know how fickle some people can be!!

I have never heard it happen before but I have converted an athiest. Any christian that can be converted into an athiest is not a very strong christian in the first place.

Yes. It happens all the time. My old roommate was an atheist who converted. Just like religious people can become atheists, atheists can become religious.

And my roommate converted when he was hiking. He said something along the lines of "If God is real he'd open up the clouds and give us some sun." And the clouds parted and there was sun. Personally, I think it was a coincidence but it convinced him. He said something about how beautiful it was when he saw the light...

I did! I went from Christian to Atheist to Wiccan. I went through a period of huge doubt, where I wouldn't believe anything that didn't have concrete, in your face proof, but I felt like there was something missing in my life, that I was ignoring some part of reality just because it wasn't knocking on my door. After a whole lot of study and soul searching I found a religion that made sense to me and identified the calling of the the gods that I had been feeling. I was most definitely atheist for a couple years, and now I most definitely am not.

Yes, of course they could. You can always change what you believe, or have second thoughts.
Some Atheists convert to Buddhism, where they have no god. And of course some convert to Christianity, where they ask god for forgiveness.

Allgiggles, I don't know exactly what you mean, but my answer is, an atheist is always an atheist no matter what religion they become, they have to become a Christian to be converted. Jimmy.

I only know religious to atheist converts. I haven't heard of anyone going back into the closet.

However, I am sure it has happened.
