simple meditation. This is a basic form of what I do. It's a mix of different types. It’s a powerful tool you really need. First choose your mantra. This is a word of power, love, and life. I chose, "God", as I intend to be infused with, and maintain His spirit until next time. You can use any word, or short sentence meaningful to you. Another example of a good mantra is the word Love. I can't imagine using another mantra now, so take time with this. When you have it, get comfy. Use whatever position you fancy. Then deliberately go through every, single, tiny muscle in your entire body, (even the tiniest ones in your face), relaxing and filling each one with a protective, loving, healing white light from God. Do this while repeating your mantra silently. When you are completely relaxed and full of light, including your insides. Your body will be like it’s asleep, while your mind is wide awake. This can open you to spiritual contact. This is what makes the next action very important. Surround yourself with protective white light. I like to make all my white light sparkle & shimmer. Try not to think of anything except your mantra, and the sparkling white light. After this there are some variations you can try. Later. Sounds simple, but it’s not, it takes a great deal of commitment, determination, and concentration. Do this at the same time everyday.

Blessed Be

The most popular things for general relaxation are Valerian, Chamomile, and Hops.... but some people actually wake up when they take these and are just very relaxed.

There are also some supplements that can help with stress and relaxation if you wanted natural help for that. There is St. John's Wart, SAMe, some B-Vitamins, GABA, Ashwagandha, and L-Theanine.

Aside from that, there are a number of relaxing things that work differently for different people. Some people prefer Yoga or meditation, some prefer listening to music, and some people even have hobbies that relax them (I've even heard of some people that do target practice or working out to relax them)

Stress affects people quite differently -for me, I notice I become irritable and lose sleep among other things. For myself, I do the following:

1) watch my diet. I tend to eat poorly when stressed (comfort foods!) so I make an extra effort to eat better including more fruits and vegetables.

2) take my vitamins, especially antioxidants when I know my body is under stress.

3) make time to unwind. I will do this through physical activity (run or swim) or mental activity (read). I will do things to de-stress such as go to the beach or meditate.

Mind-body therapies such as yoga, tai chi or meditation are all clinically proven to trigger the relaxation response which reduces stress hormones, blood pressure, etc. Chronic stress increases risks of high blood pressure, atherosclerosis and a number of other diseases, so finding some extra time to trigger that relaxation response is just what the doctor ordered! Cheers!

When I feel stressed at work, I take a non-smoking cigarette break. I go out to my car, put the radio on, and lay back in the seat for about 10 minutes. If I feel stressed at home, I go for a drive down the road with the radio blasting.
