I don't know but it seems to me that however they are doing it, you are getting cheated out of about a pear's worth of schnapps.

They slip the end of the twig with the fertilized blossom inside the bottle and hang the bottle onto the tree. The blossom grows into a fruit and the fruit gets bigger inside the bottle. Finally when the pear is mature they snip the twig from the tree and trim the pear stem.

There's no pear in peach schnapps, but anyway the makers of PEAR schnapps put the bottles right on the pear trees after the flowers have been pollinated, and then pears grow right inside the bottles.

The pear bud is placed into the bottle and matures inside the bottle.
Cleaver eh!
The webiste describes the process for whiskey and therefore can be applied to the schnapps

They actually attach the bottle to the tree and let the pear grow in the bottle. Its another reason why they are not as scarred as some pears you will see in the grocery. This is becoming popular with a wide vareity of different alcohols. The story with the bottle is a great conversation starter.

yeah its pretty much about what evryone here says, stick a branch in a bottle and let it grow. then cut it off when its done. but i'd love to know how they know if the pear in the bottle has a little worm in it or bugs cos imagine seeing them swimming round in your bottle te he he.

The ships inside the bottle are eased in slowly with everything folded down tightly and then released and a thread that is firmly attached raises the masts and sails.
