I would say off white, that goes good with any color of furniture and any style, also any plants or other items you might have. White is too institutionalized and beige is to oldish looking.

Well, first I would need to know what color your furniture is and what your primary accent color (the color most used around the room) is before I can suggest a color. However, since I do not know what color these things are then a good rule of thumb is to choose a coordinating color. For Example: if your furniture is Brown, you could choose a blue for your walls and that would be nice contrasting color. Actually, if you have brown furnishings then you can go with any color you like because it is a neutral color. Or, you could go with Tan, Beige, Ecru and that would be a complimentary color. If your furniture has a pattern with multiple colors then pick out a color in the pattern that you like and go with that color. Hopefully this will give you some ideas on how to choose a color.
Good luck

A bright, happy, blue. Our living room has a nautical theme, with loud, pretty, blue walls. It's about 100 degrees outside now, & the color has a cooling affect. It's a tranquil color, peaceful, & cozy. Also, it makes a nice background color for hanging a painting or a sculpture on it. Try it! You'll like it!

It depends what kind of mood you want for the room.
If you want it to be ralxing and tranquill - Green and ceam.
warm and cosy - reds and oranges.
If you want it to be a feature room try black and white, or cream and chocolate brown.
