Never put a newborn facing foward in a car seat. Always utilize a rear-facing car seat.

That being said, call your local Highway Patrol office and ask. I'd be surprised if they said you couldn't, if there are no back seats, and the older trucks usually lack that feature.

It's the same with children in a truck in the front seat. At a certain age they aren't legally allowed in the front seat, if a rear seat is available. But in trucks, you see it all the time.

Again, call your local Highway Patrol office and ask. Chances are, they'll say it's legal. But don't forget, a rear-facing car seat is the absolute safest for an infant, regardless if they are in the front or back seat.

Hi! You're not being overprotective, you're being mommy! And, as mommy, what you say goes. The answer to the truck is "no". You can let them know that you want them to enjoy your daughter, and understand that they can turn the airbags off but you are still not okay with having her in any front seat. You can also let her know that your family rule is that your daughter stays in her home when being babysat. Add that you thought they'd enjoy spending time with their granddaughter, which is why you asked them instead of someone else to sit. The rules don't change though, when you're away, your daughter stays in her home. You need to be able to be with your daughter in minutes if anything comes up. Grandma and Grandpa can take her out for a spin when she's two or three! There is no negotiation here, and it's not about right or wrong, it's about what your instincts are and your comfortability with your daughter. Your in-laws need to respect your wishes, or you'll simply find someone else to watch your daughter and they'll have to visit when you're home. In the future, I'd recommend just having them visit when you're home. While you're trying to be kind by having them over to sit with your daughter, they don't get that intention for kindness, and are really pushing the boundaries. It's not worth the hassle, and those are the 'natural consequences' for feeling the need to question and badger you when you try to discuss things about your daughter. I hope this helps!

Yes you can only if there is no back seat and if you can turn off the air bag on the passenger side. My husband has a truck and he puts our 6month old baby in the front seat only when he turns off the air bag!!! I would just check and see what the law is in your state.

If your truck doesn't even have a rear seat, or only has one of those half-seats with no rear doors, you really don't have much of a choice, do you? Yes, you can put an infant in the front if there are no airbags. But if you DO have a rear seat and are able to put a carseat back there, you should.

Yes, you can. The danger of the front seat is mostly that of the air bag, which does not exist in your truck.

The safest place is the back seat, but since you do not have one well...

Just make sure the seat is installed properly, as the majority of seats are not.

Check with your state. If there are no airbags it should be ok. If there is a back seat in the truck then you should use that. Most newer trucks that don't have back seats have airbags that can be turned off so that children may ride in them.

Yes, you can put an infant carrier in the front seat as long as it doesn't have an airbag. Make sure to keep him facing backward, and check with your local fire department to make sure that your carseat is installed properly.

I would say it depends on each states laws, but as long as there isn't an airbag and you place the car seat backwards it should be fine.

Yeah if you do not have airbags you can put your baby in the front. However, you will get dirty looks from the less informed drivers that pass you by.

No. Under the age of 12 cannot sit in the front seat of any vehicle. It is against the law. In newer cars, it states that right there on the passanger side visor.
