Has every soldier here seen We Were Soldiers or Black Hawk Down?
Has every sailor here seen Annapolis?
Has everybody here in the Coast Guard seen the Guardian?
Has every airman here seen... what's a movie about the air force?

sorry, i've never seen annapolis. i just knew it was navy and couldn't think of anything else. but i have seen all the others and Band of Brothers isn't a movie but a miniseries. Still great though. My grandpa fought with Maj. Dick Winters twice in the war.

you ask these questions about everything in the military, except has there been a movie about air borne or the rangers?

I'm a Marine and have seen most of them. I didn't think Full Metal Jacket was really that great of a movie.
I was in a helicopter company in the infantry and can tell you that Black Hawk Down is about as realistic as it gets.
Haven't seen Annapolis
Saw the Guardian. It was an outstanding movie. I don't have any experience with that sort of thing so don't know how realistic it is though.
Air Force....hmmm...I'd say Top Gun, but that was Navy, and that movie is barely watchable now because of all the homoeroticism. Maybe Stealth, but that was a crappy movie.
The guys in Transformers are Air Force. That's why they have satellite linkups with their families back home and all the fancy, brand new gear. It's also why they're seen running away from the fight too.
Rotorhead is right on the money with Band of Brothers. That series is outstanding, as is the book. Maj Dick Winter's personal account of the events is also a good read. Another good military book is "The Hot Gates"

I think everyone has seen Full Metal Jacket not just us Marines. I actually think Full Metal Jacket is the only movie that even comes close showing what being a Marine is really like. Every other movie I've seen has completely missed the mark. Not to say it's right on but much better than all the rest. I didn't like the VC sniper in the end with the AK killing people from 500 plus yards away. Max accurate range for and AK is 300 yards

Movie Trivia!!!
The combat scenes in "Full Metal Jacket" were filmed in the old Becton Sewerage Works not far from Barking, London England, the palm trees were trucked in, set in skips, holes were excavated and the skips and trees planted. The entire S.W. was slated for demolition so the Special Effects guys got to do anything they wanted without worrying about damage, the Vietnamese signs were all spray-paint jobs, looking at it after wards it came out very well for the time it was supposed to be set in.
The reason it was done in London was the cost, cheaper than doing it in the Philippines

Has every Liberal seen "Sicko" and "An Inconvenient Truth"?
As for "Annapolis" (1 of 10 worst movies of all time), every Navy guy should see "Run Silent, Run Deep" and "The Cain Mutiny".
Air Force "Twelve O'Clock High"
Soldiers should see "Band of Brothers"
Marines: "Full Metal Jacket"

Actually most Navy people prefer Down Periscope, or McHale's Navy. (it's an enlisted thing)
They are movies and yes we see them all Armed Forces TV sucks. So you choose between a movie you watched a hundred times already or watching another "interview" with a commanding officer.

Top Gun was technically the Navy, but it was the Naval Air Force so I guess you could say its an air force movie.
I think it was accurate. All flight instructors are hot blonds, and the pilots are super cocky with free reign to taunt and flirt with the hot instructors.

Good question, lol. I'm guessing you're in the air force and wondering where your epic movie is! Hmmm...I guess Independence Day with Will Smith is what you get for now buddy, sorry. Good movie though.
