you do no longer decide to seem for a extreme pixel count variety digicam once you're observing compacts. Their image sensors are very, very tiny. they are so tiny, that a pair of dozen of them would be mandatory to conceal the image sensor in an get entry to point dSLR. Throw interior the reality that those cameras have image sensors with 12, 14 or maybe 18 million pixels on them, and nicely that could be a bad element, no longer a great element. those tiny little pixels carry collectively little or no gentle. gentle is what pictures is all approximately. while digital sensors get little or no gentle, they generate a lot of noise or grain. digicam makers will attempt to conceal this with noise help. That NR destroys element, and delivers a smeared mess. So image high quality is getting worse with compacts not extra useful. This all occurred because of the fact of advertising. as quickly as digicam makers suggestions washed purchasers into this pixel count variety element, they could no longer undo it. Now they cram in further and further pixels to a minimum of one up the different digicam maker to no longer supply you extra useful pictures. in case you purely locate the money for for a compact, decide for the backside pixel count variety in a digicam that still has the coolest factors you like. the extra useful compacts use a BSI sensor to hold collectively extra gentle than classic sensors. Canon has some fashions like this, Sony compacts with a BSI sensor are called "Exmor R" if there is not any "R" it is not a BSI sensor. Fuji makes them too, verify the specs. For extra useful image high quality, seem at digicam specs, and verify image sensor sizes. the way sizes are listed is almost confusing yet they seem to be this. a million/a million.8, a million/a million.7 and a million/a million.6 those are many times sizes for bigger end compacts. good success.

I suggest looking into the Casio Exilim line. I have the EX-Z60. It was fairly cheap for being 6 megapixels. Very skinny. It has it's own battery and comes with the charger. It's great!!

Check out the Sept. 2007 issue of SHUTTERBUG magazine. They have a review of five 10megapixel digicams. They also publish a Buyer's Guide, as do other photography magazines.
