I was at the pet store the other day when I saw this white spotted cockatiel, but the people that worked there failed to tell me exactly what kind of cockatiel she was. X0 She was white with small brown spots at the end of each feather. Not dark brown, but more towards tan. Does anyone know what kinds she is? I really want to by her, but I want to know what kind of bird she is first.
While I'm at it, what are good measurments for a cockatiels cage?
Also, what kinds of food (besids bird food) do they eat?
To most need a cage mate? If so, how many?
And...that's all, I'm done. Thankies!

It sounds like you are looking at a "Pearl" cockatiel. These are lovely birds !
Well, you cannot get too big with cage space, but a good general size is about 16x16 inches and 2 feet tall. That's big enough for a bird or even 2, and still have lots of room for toys and perches.
Food should include a good pellet food, plus fruits and veggies( fresh, dried, or cooked), and a small amount of seeds. Cooked pasta is a favorite, as is a little cheese or cooked meat. My birds actually like lukewarm soup !!
Do NOT give chocolate, coffee, or avocado! These are poisonous to cockatiels!
If you get it a cage mate it will likely bond to the other Bird instead of you. This means it will be less friendly to you. As long as you spends time with it every day your cockatiel should not need a cage mate.
Good luck !!

Definately sounds like a cinnamon pied mutation..maybe a pearl? I am never good at telling them apatr without actually seeing the bird. Oh well. A cockatiel needs technically a 18 x 18 x 18 But I'd say at least a 20 x 20 x 20 because with their long tails you need a cage with at least 20 in depth so they turn around without messing up their tail feathers. Bigger is better, as long as the bar spacing is right go for the biggest cage you can afford. Your bird will thank you. They will eat a pellet/seed diet(More pellet than seed) and then millet for treats, I usually hung up a spray every couple days. They will eat fruits and vegggies, after some encouragement. Some go for them, some don't but keep trying! They need the nutrition. They don't need a cage mate! If you want the bird to bond with you, one bird per cage.

You would probably have to do some research to find out exactly what type of cockateil it was, if that really matters to you. Mine's cage is 17"x17"x3 ft. but he is seldom in the cage. There is a special mix of feed for them, plus they need a mineral block, and cuttle bone. The like spray millet, but like the food that you are eating also. They are a curious bird and want to taste everything that they see you eating. No chocolate, or caffeine. If you want a pet, no they do not need a cage mate. They will bond with you, and usually do that when they don't have a mate.

It sounds like she is a cinnamon pied cockatiel. Beautiful birds. I have a lutino cockatiel. I feed mine cockatiel pellets. Not seeds because those are very fattening. As long as you give your cockatiel love and attention every day, there is no need for a cage mate. If you want to get to though, be sure they are both girls, males will fight. A good sized cage would probably be 18x18x18. Good luck.
