My daugher just turned one last week and I still feel quite sore. It was a forceps delivery, I had an episiotomy then I completely tore from front to back. I had to be stitched inside and out, it was a complete mess, some of the stitches headed out towards my leg too.
Has anyone had a sililar experience, how long should it take to heal properly inside? After a year I'm beginning to worry.

I spoke to my doctor yesterday and she said 'it will just take time'. How long is that? She didn't even examin me.

I've had a pap smear and I have 'abnormalities', I've to go to the colposcopy clinic. Maybe they will help.

I also tore extensively during the birth of my oldest child 14 years ago. It took me at least 3 years until having sex was comfortable again but I still had issues with scaring and pain. When I had my 2nd child 10 years ago my OB had me see a surgeon who removed scar tissue even though I never tore with the birth of my 2nd. I wish I had asked my OB about the possibility of corrective surgery before I waited almost 4 years instead of listening to him tell me it was normal!

Good luck!

I had the same problem. My stuff smelled awful. I also had stiches. Are you putting any ointment on your pads? Any Tucks pads or anything? I kind of noticed the smell was worse when I used this OTC ointment. I can't remember the name of it but we had to get it from the pharmacist rather than on the shelf for some reason. It was specifically hemorrhoid ointment but I guess the nurses said it would help the stitches. Anyway, the way that stuff reacted tot he blood must have been most of the smell. Overall, you're dealing with blood that is coming from a pretty funky environment, one that has been kind of at a stalemate for the last 9 months. So you are getting tissue, amniotic fluid leftovers, and all kinds of stuff that is going to give you that dead rotten smell lol. It should go away in a couple weeks. Maybe you will get lucky and stop bleeding soon. I bled for 8 weeks >_<

If it has been a year, you should be seeing your OB/Gyne for a pap smear and she will look to tell you how you are doing.
My niece tore so bad, she had to go back to surgery in the evening after her baby was born to have a general surgeon and the obstetrician re connect everything. She tore clear up into her rectum and it was pretty bad. Her baby is 7 mo old now and she still has problems.
See your gynecologist and tell her you are worried.

hi yes omg , i had terrible tearing having my second son i tore, like you front to back and inside as well , i can tell you i couldnt sit down with out thinking about it for two weeks , and it was sore for ages about 3-4 weeks although my midwife said it was because of the bruising aswell from the tearing , but after a year you should be completeley healed! see the doctor and ask him to refer you to see a gynacologist there could be other problems or a reason why you still havent healed yet , it only really took about 8 weeks for me to heal inside , although it was tender for a few months after , good luck.

I had 28 stitched with our first baby- and was sore for awhile but not for a year.

Please consider another doctor- this is your life and you need a doctor that is going to listen to you and to check you out if there is a problem.

Good luck!
