If you want to explore the evidence for Christ's death and resurrection, I recommend a book called The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. He was an athiest too, seeking to find out what evidence there was for the truth of Jesus' life and story. There is a graphic account about what Roman crucifixions were like and it is pretty clear.

Jesus didn't "wake up" He was resurrected by the power of God. Read the book , explore the logic presented there. Jesus existed, , he did miracles and was hugely popular with the people, no historian would argue that. This is referenced in historical books of the time outside the Bible.

He started a movement that would not have lasted 2000 years if it was a hoax. No one would have given their life for something they knew was fake. Read the story of the disciples, many of them were executed for refusing to deny Christ. The early Christian church was persecuted severely, thrown to the lions in the arena and such. No one would do that if Jesus had not really come back from the dead.

You are in no way an Atheist. We do not believe in spirits or ghosts, or the divinity of Jesus. (as a matter of fact there is little to no evidence that such a person even existed) Get out a dictionary and look up the word 'Atheist'. You will not find us claiming that

"The idea of jesus waking up from the dead to me has a special message which is its the idea of divinity meets humanity"

"divinity????? Riiiiiiight

I think the teaching of jesus was meant to live on. I do not believe that jesus actually rose from the dead.
Back then people had little understanding about the human body as well as medicine. For goodness sake, people thought that evil spirits caused headaches back then. So even if jesus "rose" from the dead there is a very good chance that there is a scientific explanation. Maybe this jesus was in a deep sleep and woke up three days later.

If there's no resurrection, there's no living Christ. And face it—if there's no resurrection for Christ, everything the Bible says is smoke and mirrors, and everything I've staked my life on is smoke and mirrors. Not only that, but we would be guilty of telling a string of barefaced lies about God, all these affidavits we passed on to you verifying that God raised up Christ—sheer fabrications, if there's no resurrection.

Think straight. Awaken to the holiness of life. No more playing fast and loose with resurrection facts. Ignorance of God is a luxury you can't afford in times like these. Aren't you embarrassed that you've let this kind of thing go on as long as you have?

Some skeptic is sure to ask, "Show me how resurrection works. Give me a diagram; draw me a picture. What does this 'resurrection body' look like?" If you look at this question closely, you realize how absurd it is. There are no diagrams for this kind of thing. We do have a parallel experience in gardening. You plant a "dead" seed; soon there is a flourishing plant. There is no visual likeness between seed and plant. You could never guess what a tomato would look like by looking at a tomato seed. What we plant in the soil and what grows out of it don't look anything alike. The dead body that we bury in the ground and the resurrection body that comes from it will be dramatically different.

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future.

It makes perfect sense. However as a Christian we ascertain God and the fact that his word is true by faith. Faith is not nothing or deciding to believe in something. It's a gift that you have to ask God for it. When you receive the gift of faith it's like hitting a power-line. The best way I can describe it is as a sense like seeing is a sense. By sight a person can apprehend a tree, a dog, a house, etc. By faith humans apprehend God. A logical arguement with a non believer (please don't take this personally) for a believer; it's like a person who has sight speaking to a blind person. We know we will never convince a non believer because they can't "see" the same way a Christian who has faith and the Holy Spirit does. I gave up years ago I just pray for non believers that God will give them the gift of faith. The Bible says God only gives the gift of faith to those who deep down inside want it. So if an atheist does not want the gift of faith, they have nothing to fear (on this side of the vale at least).

As an atheist, why would you care about fairy stories about things that SUPPOSEDLY occurred 2,000 years ago? The only thing that we know for sure is that 300 years after this person supposedly had all these miracle happen, a political group got together and decided what really happened and what it meant in the form of the 'real' catholicism. You can only believe the story of jesus' resurrection if you accept political revisionist history written hundreds of years after the fact. Even in their revisionist history, their only eyewitnesses were primitive, emotional people.

Thank-you for asking a favourite qustion.

When the rabble and the yukkies tried to corner the Christ, demanding 'a sign', he tore them up with His tongue of unrivalled sharpness. This generation of vipers would get no sign, He thundered, they would get no sign but the sign of Jonas! (Beg pardon?)

And so they did. Jonas was swallowed up by the sea-monster for three days. Most people realize that the story of Jonas, taken literally, is of little interest or didactic value. Clearly, Jonas was fleeing a spiritual duty, and he lost himself in the material world, which simply could not hold him after a bit, and vomited him out on the shore.

Remember how utterly dead the disciples were after Christ's martyrdom. Even Peter fled his spiritual duty, lied and dissembled. All of the Christ's teaching had been snuffed out.

After being lost for three days in the deep, dark belly of the material world (and this world is our common grave...) the Spirit returned, and the effects of Christ's work came to light as they had to, just as the sea-monster could contain Jonas no more.

So that perverse generation got its sign, the one that matters to everyone. His mighty cause was resurrected in all the souls, even after He had ceased to be among them, and the wayward and perverse old guard lost its supremacy.

As a Christian i believe in the Resurrection of Christ he rose from death a statement of who he is and what he has completed for us. Indeed it is a special message for us that he has died for our sins and if we turn to him in faith we can be forgiven and be born again and have eternal life. Yes divinity has met humanity in Christ and i believe you are close to the truth Atheist? Agnostic? i say maybe you should read the Gospels and meditate on them ignore the childish insults by some Atheists who respond. This is about the most important questions of who we are and were we will go . I will pray for you God Bless.

Senita,
HE not only "woke up from the dead" but arose after three days which was unheard of. HE filled all of the prophesies of the Old Testament which had been what the Israelites were awaiting for centuries. HE taught a group of men to carry on HIS work and spread the gospel message which was needed to continue that work. They wrote the New Testament which was needed for Christianity to happen at all. HE is GOD'S SON and our personal Savior. HE is the Reason that we have an opportunity to be in HEAVEN in the after-awhile. I hope that you read, study, and obey GOD'S WORD at some point in your life so that you too have the promise of eternal life in HIM. Have a wonderful day and a glorious week.
Thank you,
Eds (A simple Christian)

His message lived on...So he was metaphorically raised from the dead. Christianity was like an underground religion for centuries, and many people started to turn a human being into some magical being after the first few hundred years.
