If the only reason for me to live is to make other people happy, this is an endless chain of waiting to die but gratifying other people - so wouldn't it be kinder to kill absolutely everybody on the Earth? That way, no-one is waiting to die, no-one is left to keep happy.

Hold up, guys, don't answer unless you read the question (and answers) in that link - otherwise you have no idea what I'm talking about

Jack P: It's not a rhetorical question - I genuinely am starting to feel that global genocide may be the best way to ensure everybodies lives as paid what they are due.

The HypnoPope: Turn it around. Is the only reason for me not to kill myself that it might upset other people? If one person's death always upsets someone else, killing everybody simultaneously would mean no-one would be upset. I think it would definately be HUMANE ()

The HypnoPope: But the only reason any organism reproduces is just a quirk of how their protein is arranged - it's just luck. Without that reproduction, there would be no evolution, so the only reason humans are here is because of that quirk that particulary strains of proteins (DNA) can reproduce itself. So, if you say the purpose of life is to breed I would have to disagree and say that breeding is something we do as a symptom of evolution. We are an accident, a chance occurance. We have no purpose. Everyone gets upset at the death of a loved one and yet we continue living until we die, and make someone else upset! It's a cycle of 'life is for living and being happy' and 'oooh, he died, now I'm upset'. So, kill everyone, clense the planet of the accident of life and then there'd be no upset because there'd be no-one left to feel those bad feelings - those bad feelings wouldn't exist.

Do you agree with me that if everybody on earth died at exactly the same moment there would no such thing as pain? So, I have found the cure for pain - instantaneous genocide.

I used to hear that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Now I have to change my mind. If you are having thoughts on killing people, then that means that you are not happy and have not found true happiness. I don't know what happened in your life to make you feel that way, but it is possible to overcome whatever has happened. Sometimes counseling works, but the best thing for you to do is a soul-search and spiritual reality check. Connect with people that are positive and sometimes talking with someone who has survived some issues that you may have been through may be the best way to heal. A lot of things happen to kids while they are little and they have to deal with the emotional scars for life, but even they can heal, but it takes help from good friends and a lot of prayer for the healing. I hope that you are able to talk with someone. Living life here to the fullest and loving other people is just a small portion of what life has to offer. Once you make it in to heaven, there is so much more that you will be able to enjoy. Afterall, it sure beats going to hell and suffering for all eternity.

That's crazy talk. Kill yourself before it comes to that

Despite pain and sorrow many many people find joy in living. You would be destroying people's joy and happiness in life too. Think about that..

Edit: I had pain and sorrow giving birth. But most of the time I'm glad I did it.

Who says the only reason to be alive is to make others happy?

Rhetorical question, evidently.

You almost certainly don't have the capability of doing it, so what makes sense, or doesn't make sense is moot.

I think it would be more humane to let everyone make that choice for themselves, don't you think?
