I think one reason there is so many religions out there cause many want to get to heaven but doesnt want to go through Jesus for it. Then some think since times has changed so has God. So thats why we have liberal churches.

I think you did the Martin Luther King Jr. thing as a joke to see who would catch on. Of course, Martin Luther was one of the Protestant Reformers who saw that many of the Catholic traditions did not agree with scripture. the Reformers did not start out to make new denominations. They were trying to reform the Catholic Church which they felt had strayed away from the religion of the Apostles. That is the problem with a "finished revelation and a closed canon" You are going to get a lot of different interpretations about what the Gospel really is and what the scriptures actually mean. People claim the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and being taught by Him, but yet there are many differing doctrines.
Usually one group will take one or two doctrines and base a whole creed on them. Like the Baptists who insist on adult emmersion baptism. Or the Adventists who concentrate on end time prophecy and worship on the Sabbath instead of the Lord's day.
The Bible says "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism" and that seems confusing with so many different groups. Some people think that the differences in doctrines mean little and it is your personal relationship with Christ that is important. But how do you know you are in His Grace if you don't know who He really is and follow what He said? It is confusion.
The Latter-day Saints claim a new and ongoing revelation, living apostles and prophets, and that God again speaks to men and claim authority that solves the problems of the confusion of the different denominations. There are a lot of claims made by a lot of groups.
James wrote "If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally {and} ungrudgingly, without reproaching {or} faultfinding, and it will be given him." James 1:5 We need to each find God for ourselves in the long run.

Martin Luther King Jr. and Martin Luther, the person for whom Dr. King was named after, were two different people from two different eras.
The reason that there are so many different denominations is because noone knows for sure what's going to happen after you die. No one speaks to God. This is why theyt have to rely on interpretations of what's in the bible and as you can see, you have as many religions as people have butt holes. The real truth is that it's all made up. The fact that no one can get on the same page is proof.

I think you mean Martin Luther not Martin Luther King Jr. They were two different men.
The Roman Catholic Church was the first Christian denomination. You don't have to believe it, but then again you don't have to believe water is wet either.
There are different denominations because over the years some factions of the church have reinterpited the bible.

It really started out that way, one faith, that is. When Jesus walked the earth, all believers were of one mind. But even then, the Jewish faith was divided .
Down through the years, people such as Martin Luther have had a different slant on what the scriptures meant and the different denominations were born.
I don't remember who said it, but someone said" There are Catholics and Baptists and the difference between the rest of them is the difference between twiddle dee dee and twiddle dee dum." Some will take offense to that, and I apologize, but quoted it to make a point
It really doesn't matter what denomination you are, as long as you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

.Let me start off by saying.....
One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
Ephesians 4:5
Why are there so many different denominations of Christianity, because the Bible is open to many interruptions.
If you put five people in a room and had them read the same passage I am sure you would get five different meanings.
Let us look at history a bit...
The rise of denominations within the Christian faith can be traced back to the Protestant Reformation, the movement to “reform” the Roman Catholic church during the 16th century, out of which four major divisions or traditions of Protestantism would emerge: Lutheran, Reformed, Anabaptist, and Anglican. From these four, other denominations grew over the centuries. The Lutheran denomination was named after Martin Luther and was based on his teachings. The Methodists got their name because their founder, John Wesley, was famous for coming up with “methods” for spiritual growth. Presbyterians are named for their view on church leadership—the Greek word for elder is presbyteros. Baptists got their name because they have always emphasized the importance of baptism. Each denomination has a slightly different doctrine or emphasis from the others, such as: the method of baptism; the availability of Lord’s supper to all or just to those whose testimonies can be verified by church leaders; the sovereignty of God vs. free will in the matter of salvation; the future of Israel and the church; the role works play in salvation; pretribulation vs. post-tribulation rapture; the existence of the “sign” gifts in the modern era, and the list could go on and on. The point of these divisions is never Christ as Lord and Savior, but rather honest differences of opinion by godly, albeit flawed, people seeking to honor God and retain doctrinal purity according to their consciences and their understanding of His Word.
People want to tailor the scriptures to what they want to believe, i.e. the Catholics believe that they can buy someone out of hell, but I have never seen where Christ taught that practice. It is also taught that it is okay to smoke, drink, party as long as you confess to the Priest.
Alot of Baptist believe that once you are saved you are always saved, no matter what you go out and do. I have talked with many baptist who live in sin but when you ask them, "do you believe you are saved and going to heaven" the answer is "yes".
I am not saying these things to upset anyone, just to show some of the differences in religions that I have found.
Christ walked the earth and set up His church, but yet very few people follow his teachings, all of his teachings have somehow become corrupted and now....
13 ¶ Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Sorry I gotta make fun of this.....Martin Luther King Jr. was a black activist in the 50s and 60s. He had nothing to do with the break from the Catholic church. I can tell you are a product of our fine American education system.

Well there is one "faith" when it comes to the essentials. Most Christians will agree on the basic tenets of Christianity. But when it comes to doctrine and practice, that's where the discrepancies start. I think it makes perfect sense to have different denominations based on certain issues.
