If its a first date, or at the beginning of the realtionship i would suggest you, the male pay. Later down the road you can learn to share expensives and agree on who will pay for what , knowing that college students have little spending cash, most of the time. (Unless Daddy & Mommy are well off).

Let me give you a quick lesson in ettiquette. If you invite someone to dinner, as in "would you like to go to dinner?" you are basically saying that you are requesting their company at a dinner thaqt you are going to pay for.
If you want to go dutch the invite should be phrased thusly, "I am going to ------ for dinner, if you want to come too that would be cool. But I can't pay for us both."
Since you are in college check out a book from the library to brush up on basic ettiquette. It goes a long way in both dating and business settings. Proper manners can set you apart from others in a very postive way.

alright, my opinion on this one is easy, in a relationship if you are both making decent money then you should both pay (not necessarily split, just him for one thing, her for another or what have you because if their are equal rights that should cover that (rebecca's a typical double standar feminist by the sound of it) but on a first date, college kid or not, you need to fork over the cash i mean come on...your trying to make an impression here

Sharing has always been fine by me, even when I was a student. Half and half is fair, especially if both students.

Relationships are about give and take.......not exactly 50/50 always...because it will cause problems, i.e stinginess etc.....timt to time you give.....
