Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone, the only enlisted marine to win the Medal of Honor, the Navy Cross and the Purple Heart. He held off 3000 Japanese on Guadalcanal after his unit was wiped out.
There's a movie made in the 40's or 50's about him, played by John Garfield, can't remember the name. Basilone was killed on Iwo Jima.

P.S.
In April 2007 it was announced that Basilone's deeds would be the basis for the HBO series " The Pacific ", the successor to " Band of Brothers."

Well it would be a 13 way tie.

Any of the 13 Soldiers,Sailors or Marines who earned the Medal of Honor twice.

How can anyone top any of those 13 ?

Like:

Tom Custer, little brother of General Custer, a two time MOH winner.

On April 6, 1865, young Custer leaped his horse over the enemy's line of works and fearlessly dashed up to the Confederate color guard. When close to the colorbearer, Custer took a shot in the face which nearly knocked him off his horse, but he remained upright in the saddle and fired at the Confederate holding the flag, hitting him and causing him to reel. Frenzied, Custer reached out and clutched the flag, then spurred his horse and dashed back to Union lines, his trophy held high.

Riding up to his brother Brevet Major General George A. Custer, the lieutenant told him, "The Rebels shot me, but I have their flag." He turned to return to the fight, but the general, realizing the severity of Tom's wounds, ordered him to the rear. His brother refused, so the young major general placed him under arrest and had him escorted to the aid station

Audie Murphy. The guy took out machine gun nests on his own. Took a hill on his own. While wounded and manning a machine gun atop a burning tank, he radioed in artillery fire and fought off an attack of 6 German tanks and 200 troops on his own.

Now even Chuck Norris would have a hard time of matching that sort of toughness.

Audie Murphy (Army), hands down. He is largely considered the most decorated grunt in military history.
