All anti-virus programs work by placing themselves between the files on your computer and Windows itself. Whenever you attempt to access a file, the anti-virus program interrupts the request and checks the file for viruses before it will let Windows open or use it. This extra step with each file slows the PC.

I am not familiar with Stop-Sign Antivirus. So I do not know whether it is a good one or not. If it is slowing your PC too much, you may want to try a different anti-virus. I have used AVG for several years without any problems. If you go to http://download.com and search for "free AVG", you will find a free (and a paid) version of the program. Try it instead.

The free AVG does not include an anti-spyware scanner. So I recommend you also download Spybot Seek&Destroy. It is a free anti-spyware program which does not slow your computer. Again at http://download.com

Either you have a really crappy RAM or that program sucks!

Don't install any of that crap. Get AVG which is free of the internet and does not use a lot of RAM.

You need to set it up so that it scans at night when you are not using the computer.
