Not necessarily. Any breed of large dog can be more dangerous than the three you mentioned if it's trained to be mean. I've seen really nice pitbulls and rottis that loved people and got along very well with small children, as well as a German shepherd that would attack almost anybody and was eventually killed by the Sheriff's department for attacking someone if I recall right... I don't consider pitbulls to be dangerous unless they're in the hands of an owner that would make them be, or if they've come from a breeder with a history for breeding dogs for purposes like fighting them.

1) The aggressiveness, meanness, the willingness to attack is primarily in the training, not the breed
2)That said, an individual of any species might turn out to be mean-tempered, regardless of training. But it is still up to the owner/handler to control the dog whatever the dog's personality.
3) If you encounter an uncontrolled mean-tempered dog, the danger to you will obviously depend on the breed. Big dogs can hurt more than small dogs. And the dog's fighting style may be more dangerous. Some breeds grab and hang on. Bulldogs and mastiffs typically do this. Some dogs leap, slash and leap back. When they fight, collies, border collies and racing dogs typically fight this way. But I want to be clear-this does not mean that you should worry that the bulldog you meet is about to grab you, or that the collie next door is about to tear at you. The first two points--training and owner's control are far more important than breed.

Noooo. A dog may be aggressive by nature, in that, the breed was originally developed for a specific task in life. Hearding cattle, fighting lions, etc. Improper breeding plays a negative role and most importantly...human interaction is critical. Respect and knowledge about any breed is necessary to better understand the excercise that animal would most appreciate to add a good quality of life. This, in turn, will make your training much easier. Pitbulls have a bad rap right now, because of the hype of being "good fighters" in a sick world. It's NOT their fault, its the owners fault.

Trust me they are more dangerous than most breeds. I have yet to meet a dog from a toy breed that I couldn't punt across the room if I needed to. It is true that with proper training and ownership a Pit will be loving however it is still more dangerous than chihuahua. Those who are saying all dogs can be dangerous are correct but misleading. Its like saying all guns are dangerous but lets face it, would you rather be shot with a BB gun or a 45? The pit bull is a 45 and should be handled with care that is not necessary when handling a BB gun.

pitbulls are more dangerous only because of their inbred trait of "gameness"...or the simple fact that they dont "give-up"under
even the worst circumstances. this is why they are more dangerous in altercations with humans. there are plenty of dog species that are stronger and larger. even though it seems these dogs would "win" in a fight with a pitbull, it is not true. so whnever you hear of "dogfighting", you hear pitbull. these inhumane idiots who fight dogs know that other breeds "give up" when pitbulls won't. so their best trait (loyalty) is actually used against them.most dogs have been bred over the years for the way they looked,unfortunately pit bulls have been bred for how good they fight,also this is evident in the different colors and sizes that you see in these dogs........

I'm not sure, but I don't agree with most here. They insist in "the animal being good" and "all depends" on training. Well, maybe they are right, but I have my dubts.
There are dogs who are bad, and do harm people. Not all dogs, of course. And not the majority, but there are and I'm not sure if many pitbulls have that characteristic. Maybe is also that some people's response is to fear, and that activates some dog's aggressiveness. But, even if you don't fear, you can be attacked.
By the way, I like dogs very much

I believe it comes down to training the dog to be obedient to an owner who truly loves their dog and can be responsiable for their dogs actions.
I used to have a Doberman Pincher who was a fantastic pet and a good animal.It took two different obedience classes to get him that way.
The problem with the large breed is that if they do happen to bite or get out of control in public, their bite is a very deep one.
I have seen Pitbulls who were sweet and some who because of owners who were not responsiable that were out of control.
When i was 7 years old, I witnessed my friend being attacked by my neighbors Pitbull. She had to have 80 stiches in her hip and thigh.The owner's son didn't shut the gate and my friend screamed when she saw the dog and he just jumped on her.The owner had to hit his dog with my baseball bat the release him.
It comes down to training.

That depends entirely on the owner ! There are many owners that mistreat their dogs to the point of inhumane cruelty . Under these conditions , any dog will be dangerous .

You need look no further than the Mike Vick case . This sub-human has tortured , maimed and killed more dogs than you know ...... all in the name of "sport" (may he rot in Hell forever)

If a dog has a good home , a loving owner , is treated with love and respect ................... he will rarely ever be a danger to anyone .

No the breed is not dangerous. The people that raise them are. I have one and also 3 other small dogs. Mine loves everybody that comes to the house and plays very gentel with the other dogs. It is the people that breed them for protection then dont care for them that cause all the danger.
