And if so, isn't it powered by lust for 70 women? Not by faith or something? No offense, I was just curious.

I was respecting it. I was just curious. There's nothing wrong with that.

It's funny how you say it's 70 virgins and some say it's 72! Show me the proof of what you say! Otherwise get your info right before asking.

Yes, Muslims believe if the die fighting in the name of Allah, they will get to have sex all the time with virgins when they go to, what they call heaven. It's not powered by lust, but more by dying in the name of Allah. For the cause of Islam.

The other Religious Group who believes this is the Mormons. They believe that they will go on to eternity and carry on making 'celestial' babies. but I believe you are only told this when you get into the higher ranks. But I'm open to correction here, maybe they all believe it.

Yes I think this is true that Muslims believe that. However, it's just as silly as believing that if you don't live your life perfectly by an old book then you'll burn in the ground for all eternity. Both are motivating factors - one is a positive reinforcement and the other is meant to scare the sh!t out of you.... lol. But both stories have the same purpose... to get you to follow their belief system!

Wouldn't a sinful religion based on lies imagine a sinful paradice. I wonder what say these 70 women might have in it if any.
To me being dumped on by 70 or 12 or whatever number of women would indeed be hell.
I'm looking forward to the time when there won't be women and men only spirits in love with Jesus.

Hi Angelus Domini,

Probably it's true according to the following:
The concept of 72 virgins in Islam refers to an aspect of paradise. In a collection by Imam at-Tirmidhi in his "Sunan" (Volume IV, Chapters on "The Features of Heaven as described by the Messenger of Allah", chapter 21: "About the Smallest Reward for the People of Heaven", hadith 2687) and also quoted by Ibn Kathir in his Tafsir (Qur'anic Commentary) of Surah Qur'an 55:72, it is stated that:

"It was mentioned by Daraj Ibn Abi Hatim, that Abu l-Haytham 'Adullah Ibn Wahb narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudhri, who heard the Prophet Muhammad saying, 'The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy two houri, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine and ruby, as wide as the distance from al-Jabiyyah to San'a."

For Red Dragon, I hope the above paragraphs can answer your question.

For Punter, if you ever think that polygamy is allowed just because there are more women than men, please consider the fact that in developed and developing countries, females' average life expectancy is longer then males'. In other words, if you marry a woman of your age, she will eventually be a widow because you are the one who likely to die first (if everything goes normal (no accidents, disasters, diseases, etc)). I agree with belleespree, you have to count the lesbians too, not just the gays.
I suggest you consult the Islamic feminists as they seek to highlight the deeply rooted teachings of equality in the Koran and encourage a questioning of the patriarchal interpretation of Islamic teaching through the Koran, hadith and sharia towards the creation of a more equal and just society.

That's all for now. Cheers

I thought it was forty.I'm originally from Glasgow and when the attack at the airport happened a local joke doing the rounds was that they wasted their time picking Glasgow, bit short on virgins! IT'S A JOKE,don't shoot the messenger.
On topic - I think it's a shame that so much emphasis is being focused on one aspect of a religion. We could spend all day picking the bones out of any/all religious aspects we disagree with.

Punter ... I wouldn't marry a Muslim man if he were the last man on Earth .....
UNLESS
- he shaved off that ridiculous, nappy beard
- he NEVER ordered me to do ANYTHING
- he NEVER smoked one of those giant bongs in the house
- he didn't expect me to convert
- he was willing to develop a palate for fine western food
- bought some jeans and a few T-shirts
- he never brought a dead animal into the house bigger than a roasted chicken from KFC
- he was okay with us celebrating birthdays WITH presents and cake

and he followed the Canadian and French Canadian custom of women keeping their own names.

Oh, and remember, all the lesbians in the world trump the gays so basically it's still a level playing field.

"If I could dwell where Israfel has dwelt
and he where I
He might not sing so wildly well a mortal melody
And a wilder note than that might swell
from my lyre in the sky"

Some poet or other

Houries, maybe not 70
