My boyfriend met my mother and father for the first time a couple of months ago - it all went well and life goes on. However my boyfriend confessed the other night that he could tell my mum's eyes that she thinks "I can do better." But he can tell my father just wants me to be happy. He also accused my mum of being a fusser and domineering over my dad!? How he managed to gage all this from a 20 min chat over a beer I don't know. He has an awful, loveless relationship with his own mother and he has said in the past that his previous girlfriend's parents didn't like him. I was really taken aback - why would he be like that. My mum hasn't said a word to me about thinking I am too good for him? !

maybe he is paraniod if other girlfriends parents didnt like him, or perhaps because he doesnt get on with his mother, it can be hard for people who have bad family relationships, speak to him, make sure he knows your mum doesnt think that.

good luck

Well he certainly has had a lousy track record with moms--seems as if he will always have a bad time with mom in laws--probably because he fears interference--and that can be trouble--especially if he is an abuser that hasn't showed his colors yet--they often want no relatives around to be available to intervene when abuse starts. They move the girl far away and trap her. Your mom and all moms want the best for their sons and daughters--your mom wants the best for you. This guy cannot relate or communicate with her--there is a problem you better give a lot of thought to. Are you truly thinking you will be able to see her when you marry this guy?? OR if you marry him?? Normal marriages include relationships with in laws--no problems at all with that. This guy has too many issues you don't know about--be alert and be WARNED--he may be trouble. Sorry--I don't like him and I haven't met him yet.... deciding to break up is up to you--and you have a right to stop seeing him--it is YOUR life. Good luck

He probably feels insecure around women because of the way his mother treated him.
