Allaah does not prescribe any ruling but there is great wisdom behind it, which we may understand, or our minds may not be guided to understand it.
Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.
Pork is also forbidden in the bible:
"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass." [14:8]

Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.

In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

No. If you live by the law then you must abide to the law. And there is a time for everything under the heavens.
When I was a kid I used to think as kid, as I grew up I went leaving behind the childish things. If there is wisdom there is also free will, that is an advice for that time, today God would had to ban us from eating anything under the heavens, because this is the Era of Contamination, so you might as well eat nothing.
What is clean on Earth right now? tell me to a 100%. Nothing, nothing is clean. So the man was given wisdom to discern from keeping the Sabbath, and the laws, but who is greater the man or the laws!!!
To eat bugs and other things is something that is abominable even to mankind. Would God kill you for eating a pig in the dessert when that is your only means for survival?
Knowing God is not abiding to a book but being like Jesus able to discern what is just and what is not, what is godly and what is not, what is clean and what is unclean.
Mathew 10 : 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. 11What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "

This question has been asked alot on yahoo I noticed.
I eat pork about everyday. Just last nite I had a 10lb pork butt in the oven for a little over 3 hours :)
I asked a muslim from iran once why they don't eat pork and she replied "because its dirty and not clean". Well, maybe if you are eating the pork from the kombai tribe. They use pigs as their toilets inside their huts. The pork in america I think is cleaner than the chickens. I'd rather eat pork than lamb or goat anyday. Nothing like a good slab of babyback bbq ribs especially from http://www.thehickoryhouse.com

Since Islamic rule is inspired from Torah(both Lev. and Deu.). Torah has said pork and other similar food is forbidden. And actually, pork is dangerous to our health. Some scholar claimed 1/6 of North American eating pork population got accidently dead or injury. If you compare Northern Chinese with Mongol. The sheep eating Mongol is much higher than eating pork chinese.(Nutrition)
I eat beef and not pork. I smell bad smell from others.(I am from Hong Kong)
Eating culture of Jews and Muslim is brilliant. Mitzvah also protect Jews life. For there was once a poor academic period in children of Abraham. Perfect mitzvah is hard for them to create...

It is forbidden in Islam, Jewish food laws, Levitical food laws and elsewhere because of the nature of the metabolism and intracellular waste disposal mechanisms of swine.
The food is unhealthy and as such is a detriment to the body but not so much from parasitic infection but the habits of swine eating where they eliminate and their inability to effectively channel toxins from their tissues.
Now get out there and slap some mustard on that ham and cheese sandwich !

I've mentioned quite a few times that pigs are the host of choice for the pre-developing stages of the tapeworm...
... But since when did that really make a difference in the grand scheme of things? When one can get salmonella from eggs and chicken, CJD from cows, potential mercury poisoning from certain crabs and fish (depending on what they have been consuming and where), accumulation of pesticides from "non-organic" crops, digestive troubles from "organic" crops... and stomach cancer from overcooked food (much as you can get "food poisoning" from undercooked food)... how is the threat of tapeworms possibly of any significance?
In a 1st-world country where livestock is specifically selected for healthiness where possible... where the meat is systematically sterilised and vacuum sealed..... and then is quite thoroughly cooked after......... I have a considerably higher chance of choking to death on a stray piece of bone or dying of heart failure due to accumulation of lipids in arteries than I have of getting a tapeworm in my system.
I am willing to accept that risk.
If you aren't then that is your choice, but I find it ironic that you would willingly accept the threats that most of your other food might pose.
Quite possibly the safest route is to go vegan, but that has its own set of problems.

And now with the higher then god intelligence of
Fridge freezers, and education in safe cooking proceedures and better equipment the ideas of the Quran become obsolete.
this is how athiests wrok.
common sense . yes that made sense back then in a desert.
but now things change as technology and education and knowlwedge changes
Athiests etc can adpt as have no faith or ridgid thinking just going with the flow of knowledge, fairness, and technology.
but the relgious dont think, analyse, critically evaluate, use their brain to evaluate , and question the books.
This is what causes a lot of the problems.
So it makes sense to get rid of all the relgions and work things out like this.
Mugging hurts people so is bad.
Taking hard drugs and weoans off school kids saves lives so is good but both are stealing.
likewise peadophila is bad as it hurts. but splitting up a teenage coupls as one if just turninf 17 and the other one is nearly 16 makes no sense as the girla dn guy both get hurt and no harm being done. as long as practicing safe sex.
Likewise gays hurt nobody.
But islam does.

Correct
“And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you” (Leviticus 11:6). “These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth: the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind, And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole” (Leviticus 11:29-30).
God recommends
“Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind” (Leviticus 11:22).

Some anthropologists (Marvin Harris) suggest that
pigs competed for the same food resources as humans. When the Middle Ears dried up, much of the land was unusable and the pig became an animal that competed for the slim resources this arid environment had. So the pig was outlawed because it destroyed what little fertile land was left.

I can't take any site seriously that says that eating pork causes people to become swingers
http://www.allaahuakbar.net/misconceptions/11.htm
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. In America, most people consume pork. Many times after dance parties, they have swapping of wives; i.e. many say "you sleep with my wife and I will sleep with your wife." If you eat pigs then you behave like pigs. We Indians look upon America to be very advanced and sophisticated. Whatever they do, we follow after a few years. According to an article in Island magazine, this practice of swapping wives has become common in the affluent circles of Bombay.
Actually this version is even funnier
http://www.islamicvoice.com/february.99/zakir.htm
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. It feels no jealousy. And among people who consume pork, the practice of wife swapping and other forms of promiscuous behaviour is common.
