Yesterday i had a new kitten, female 12 weeks old, and i already have a 2 year old cat, female. And although my older cat hasnt clawed the little kitties eyes out, shes stalking her around the house and hissing so much at her, will they ever get on? or will it be like this forever? and does anyone have any help on litter training,it appears the kitten isnt litter trained which isnt what we were told, so i think she is pooping all over our house! so a little help would be nice! thanks :) xxx

Be patient! Your two year old cat has established it's territory in your house and all of a sudden needs to share- this will take some getting used to. You should at least allow them two months to get used to eachother- but usually you'll notice improvement faster.
May I ask how you introduced them?
The introduction makes all the difference; there are two ways that are most advised; either have the kitten in a large cage the first couple of hours, so your cat can get used to it, look at it, smell it but not touch it, then after a couple of hours switch places so the little one can explore it's new home not feeling threatened, then introduce them.
The other way is to have the kitten in a seperate room at first, let it settle in, and once it feels comfortable, let the cats switch places- the older cat can sniff around to get used to the kittens smells, and the kitten can explore the rest of the house unhindered. Introduce them when you feel the kitten is at ease.
The older cat should be ignored (not punished) if it hisses or smacks the little one; this is only natural, the little one needs to know who's boss.
Never ever get in between, let them sort it out. You can separate them if you feel it's serious, but this will make the introduction take longer, so only do so if necessary.
Make sure you pamper your older cat; it needs to feel that it's position with you hasn't changed.
As for the use of the litterbox; the kitten is probaly very nervous still and not at ease in it's surroundings. The first sign of stress in cats - you guessed it- they stop using the litterbox.
Also, does it have to share the same litterbox with your two year old? It might be afraid to enter his domain. Consider putting up an extra litter box- as a rule, one should have one litter box per cat + one; so ideally you should have three now.
Are you using the same kittylitter as the kitten's breeder? Some cats can be picky about their litter, or might not recognise it as such if they're used to another type or brand.
You should check with the people the kitten grew up with, which litter they used.
All of this can be solved with some common (cat) sense, patience and a lot of love for both of your kitties.
Good luck, I'm sure they'll be allright.
There's always a chance they might not become the best of friends (cats pick their friends just as we do), but they will tolerate eachother in time, and it's (almost) always better for a cat to live with another member of it's species, so they can chat "cat" together.

Never scold the kitten. Put the kitten in the litter box repeatedly telling the kitten this is were you go to the bathroom. Poppy mess ,if you can pick it up with toilet paper and drop the pop in the litter box .The kitten will smell it's own poop and should go to the bath room on it's own, best of luck.....

ur kitten might be stressed out from being stalked and attacked.......every time that i have gotten a new cat, i.ve had 4 total.....the senior residents of the house have been the same way......evol and attacking.......i had to keep them separated and slowly let them have more and more contact......after about a week everything was kosher and now after a few years they play together......even tho one is 15 1/2 years old and the other is a lil over 2 years

all you have to do to train the kitten to use the litter is to scratch her paw in the litter box. And i am sure that your other cat and the kitten will get a long fine, it will take a little time.

1st. Take the kitten's poop and put it in the litterbox, and show it to her. And encourage her to poop there (take her and put her in there while she poops outside).
2nd. yes, they will get along. Go to my profile and check out the answer I gave just before this one. My cat was the same and now they are best friends with the kitten. As long as she is spayed.

Just put the cat in the litterbox a few times and then they get the hang of it. Your cat is just getting adapted to having another animal in the house and is trying to show who is boss.
