Pass carbon taxes and restrict business and industry in the U.S. and Europe and you'll accelerate outsourcing of manufacturing and services to Asia where pollution laws are more lax.

Excellent point, I starred you question.

However, manufacturing in Europe and the US relies more heavily on technology than on pure work force, like in Asian manufacturing. Therefore, outsourcing to Asian factories would result in less CO2 emissions worldwide, since the greater number of workers compensate for the lack of technology found in 1st world nations.

Since the Asian workers themselves are fueled by simpler and more economical diets (than compared with Euro and US diets) then it would also result in less CO2.

Awesome question, I really took interest.

The opposite has happened. European and Japanese economies are the strongest they've been in a long time hence the weakness of the dollar against the pound, euro and yen. They're leading the world in new and better technology and the greener products and services are being exported to satisfy worldwide demand. This is perhaps most apparent in the motor, electronics, communications and power generation industries.

In fact, the companies that are world leaders in greener technologies are amongst those that are performing the best.

It comes down to a simple case of supply and demand. The worldwide consumer demands greener products and services and Europe and Japan are filling that demand.

Businesses have always outsourced to where labour and materials are cheap and currently China is best placed to meet these needs. Carbon taxes may be one reason a business relacates or outsources but in comparision to cheaper labour costs, material costs, corporation taxes etc it's a comparatively small consideration.

That is a good question James but we need to remember Global warming is not a national or local problem but a global one and gas emissions anywhere will increase global warming although shifting manufacturing base from US will certainly help local pollution problem but certaibly this is not the right step to control global warming.

We need to keep two things in mind when we discuss about global warming, firstly, it is a natural process and what ever we may try we will not be able to stop it but certainly we may be able to delay it for few months and may be losses dur to it to certain extent.

This is start of reversal process and now our earth may enter the cooling phase and global cooling may start.

Secondly, the major problem here is human impact on global warming and this is something which may even delay the process of cooling to a long period or may even be more harmful. Climatic changes, lack of forest cover, carbon gas emissions and like reasons may take their toll.

So, what we need to do is not outsourcing but control emissions and fossil fuel usage, stop forest destruction and look ahead to live more sustainably by exploiting our natural resources tominimum possible.

And, WHY USA IS NOT INTERESTED IN TALKING ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING? Since studies show that the whole world will face diffrent kind of problems including America which may have to face destruction of diffrent levels due to hurricans but FOOD PRODUCTION AT AMERICA WILL GO UP BY 5% TO 20%. And so they are not interested where the whole world population will go till they are safe. Some other countries all over the globe will also benefit from this warming process but as a whole almost 70% of world population will suffer.

it is entirely possible, but certain countries that have to take leadership roles on this are U.S. and China. The U.S. more than anybody can set a precedent by doing somethign and we have to try all we can. We cant be worried about what the other side is doing because when we cut carbon dioxide emmissions then that is pollution not entering the atmosphere despite what the other side does....the U.S. could have great influence on this matter if we chose to

of course it could. only way to stop green house emission is to stop using things that contribute. It's a no brainer. Stop looking to manufacturers to control emissions, refuse to buy anything that omits...dam this is so simple.

BTW im not convinced that global warming is not a natural occurrance in the evolution of this planet.

No, it will not. But it will expose the so-called leaders of the world who spends sleepless nights for a better and safe world/pollution free air.

Yes, by fighting global warming, you are acknowledging it's existence and if you ask me, that makes it worse.
