there is a max price they can charge for a mot but if you shop around you may get it cheaper. I cannot tell you where to go because I dont know where you live

The government set the maximum price - and this is the price most dealers will charge. Some garages will offer a cheaper price - they assume that the car will need some repairs to get through, and that they can make up the profit on the repairs.

MOT prices are supposed to be fixed in the UK. Some garages offer deals but there should be a maximum cost.

Not always. A lot of cheap deals depend on staff finding "faults" which would actually allow your car to pass the test because the item complies. The staff are on commission --- need I say more
