BIG TIME!

I find that many do not get properly taught on the Old Testament. The Old Testament is full of types and shadows of things to come. Some of those things are fulfilled, especially in Christ. But they do not know how to tie in those things to the New Testament.

This is important because they typically miss the reason for things like propitiation, the type of the kinsman redeemer, the reason why the Ten Commandments and the rest of the Law was presented to mankind, and the errancy of calling all Hebrews 'Jews'.

In missing some of those things they begin to hear a different Gospel, and have a rather shallow understanding of their relationship to the Law of Moses and what Jesus did for us. They then begin to attempt to imitate what they think is a 'clean Christian lifestyle' which sets them up to think that they are 'good' people.

Some Christians may feel that the New Testament has superseded the Old Testament. But Jesus Himself said that He had come to perfect the Law, not destroy it.

Christians should become more familiar with the Old Testament because it is the foundation of their faith (the Law and the prophets). The life of Jesus and His followers is the continuation of the story that began with Abraham's belief in one God and Moses' development of His law to govern the Chosen People. And the writings of the prophets foreshadow the coming of Jesus and the extension of the worship of the one God beyond the Chosen People themselves.

Jesus Himself tells us that the god of Moses is satan, not God in The Apocryphon of John. Be smart, believe Jesus, not Moses. Who wants a god who acts like a spoiled brat and throws temper tantrums every time he doesn't get his way?

Answer to how can you separate Moses from Jesus: The same way you separate good from evil, light from dark or truth from fiction.

too many christians do. without a good understanding of the old testament, and the need for sacrifices, it's impossible to fully appreciate what Jesus did for us.

The OT is just a reference for Christians to see how life would've been if Jesus hadn't come and saved us...

Of course... if they do, it means they don't have to tithe. And it isn't as exciting as the NT--all those genealogies and lists of weird laws and long-winded oracles of doom.

If it wasn't important to Christianity, it wouldn't be in the Christian Bible.
