I am just wondering why some people do not like tattoos. I know its just a matter of opinion and taste but who really cares. Alot of people get them for themselves..and some for a loved one that is still lviing or deceased. I mean if you did not like tattoos would you be friends with someone still if they got a tattoo. Or would you look down on someone who had tattoos.? Just curious about other peoples thoughts.

I got one a couple of weeks ago to cover up a mistake I made when I was 18. I think it is beautiful compared to what I did have. Tattoos in my opinion...not trying to toot my horn are damn sexy on men. Especially on the biceps.

Steve H, you're a pig! But I guess some people associate them with being low class and cheap. You can't expect silly, closed-minded people like that to understand that tattooing is an art, a creative expression, that can hold a deep meaning for someone. It can help people overcome a death, a difficult time in one's life, celebrate a birth, or just celebrate one's self. If anyone told me I was "cheap" or "low class" because of my tattoo, I'd show them my 4.0 GPA, my beautiful car, and my nice apartment. Nevermind the fact that I'm a great person who doesn't judge people. Nowadays, everyone and anyone has a tattoo.

I don't know why some people don't like tattoos, I think people don't understand why people get tattoos as they're permanent, and you always hear people talking about why they'll look like when a person is older.
I think a tattoo is very personal thing and people shouldn't be judged for having them. A lot of people get them to represent a moment in their life, a loved one or a loss and it's symbolic and cathartic for them to go through the process and know there is something that represents that moment or person in their life.
Yes some people get tattoos at silly moments in their lives or for stupid reasons but you shouldn't judge all tattooed people by that. That's the personality not the tattoo speaking.
Tattoos do have a stigma attached because of the biker and criminal roots but there is also ethnic roots to tattoos, Native Americans and Maoris and Islanders were doing it way before any of us and i think the old adage that you 'should judge a book by it's cover' is pretty true.

I agree about tattoos on men. mmm. but yeah I don't see why people get so fussed up about tattoos. I love tattoos and as soon as Im 18 Im getting one. I think the only way a tattoo can be a bad thing is if someone has a nasty one. Like disrespectful, perverted, etc. My mom thinks they're trashy but the first one Im getting is a tattoo of her bracelet but as an ankle bracelet. I can't wait to see her reaction to that. She can't think her own bracelet or a permanent honor to her is trashy!!

In the old days, tattoos were associated with criminals and I suppose those ideas were handed down. I also think it has to do with that they have and where. I have a tattoo that isn't finished and a piercing. My tat is on my lower back and very tasteful. I am not trailer trash, a redneck, a hillbilly or poor. I chose that method of showing my heritage and when the tat is done, it will be a tribute to my son and daughter.

I have 6 tattoo's ranging from small stars to a shoulder to shoulder word that means alot to me. I am a successful married woman who owns her own business, house, etc. I don't understand why it should matter to others what i do with my body. I've decided that if my body is my temple, God would want me to be creative with it. If you feel you should leave it alone that's what you should do. I am not that person. I'm a very creative person and want it to show. My husband has many tattoo's that I think are sexy too. My only thing is i do think you should think about what you want. Make it meaningful to you and that's all that matters

I give much thought to my tattoos: what they mean to me, where would they be the most esthetically pleasing (to me), who is the best artist I can find to execute it for me... But I don't waste a single thought on "what if someone else doesn't like it." I'm sure many people consider them trashy because of their less-than-mainstream roots in bikers culture, sailors, circus side show exhibits, and other forms of criminal behavior. In Japan they're a sign of Mafia affiliation. But more people are coming around to see tattoos as an art form. To each his own, I guess.

I love your idea, and props to you for being strong through all of that. I hope your mother is doing well now. I like you idea a lot, actually. The stars are the only part I would change. They're too overdone on a lot of people, so maybe a different simple image would be better to represent the 8 of you. Maybe the first letter of all your names? It depends on what you want, really. Good luck and best wishes

I'm pretty open-minded about things like tattoos, so I certainly wouldn't refuse a friendship or a romantic relationship with someone who had a tattoo. However, the late great "Spy Magazine," a satirical publication that was big in the 1980s and 1990s had a line about tattoos that I always liked:

"We like them. They're permanent and they make it easy to identify stupid people."

Needless to say, I wouldn't get a tattoo myself.

yes i still be friends with someone who has tattoos. its not the tattoo that makes you like the person its who they are and how they treat you. my dad has tattoos and they dont make him less of a person. some tattos are quite good and some are just awful. i personally would not get tattoos coz i choose not to but that doesnt mean i dont like some of the designs that make some of the tattoos.
