Well first let me say this is a very hard question to answer.Losing weight isn't all about calories.Thank god, or we'd all be 500 pounds. You actually lose very little calories by exercising. But you will gain muscle mass which will help your body burn more calories. My brother in law just lost over 100 pounds in less then 8 months. He and his new wife are seeing a nutritionist. My sister did great with weight watchers. The key is learning how many calories your body needs to be healthy and how much excerise is good for you. It's a life style change not a quick fix.Good luck on your weight loss.Try weight watchers on line. They have recipes and tips.I use it, I'm trying to learn to feed my family more healthy foods even though none of use are really over weight.

Take up swimming; walk everywhere or cycle
Use stairs not lifts or escalators. Don't start running till you've built up a bit of strength.
Start gently with the diet, for example, I decided to give up 365 biscuits this year. I usually had 2 every morning with my first cup of tea; I've cut it down to 1 and haven't really noticed it; see what you can trim without making it so difficult that you give up.
A calorie-counter guide book will give you some idea of the better things to eat (and what not to eat) if you aren't following a diet plan. See if there is one in your library.
If you try to lose too much weight too quickly, your body will think that there is a famine in the land and will slow down the process for burning up calories, so you won't lose weight and may even put it on; on top of that you will start to feel very tired and not want to do anything but sleep (body conserving your food stocks - fat - in your body)
Remember Granny's advice: "Fats make you fat"
If your GP has told you that you are at a dangerous weight - you should have no problem in being referred to a dietician (eventually!) - ask him or her for a referral.
Meanwhile, best of luck, VA

Since every1 is tellin u how much calories that exercise burns i wont! i'll just tell you that all you need is will power and you can do it no problem!

the smallest changes will make the biggest differences, walk instead of usin a bus or taxi! walk up the stairs instead of the lift, get up n walk to the tv instead of usin the remote.lol, make a point of walking to the shop for milk or a paper in the morning, have sald instead of chips, dont keep lookin at he scales because sometimes fat turns straight to muscle so dont be put off! you will be able to see the difference in your size just by the fit of your clothes!

Once you start get your self into a rutine it wont be hard work at all, one thing i would say is get a small exercise trampoline i love mine you cn bounce for hours and not realise it, it's soo much fun. Another thing i find helps is always take your mp3 or walkman with you that way wither your walkin or bouncin on a trampoline your focussin on somethin you love, no slow songs aloud lol.

good luck xXx

Unfortunately different people need to do different amounts of exercise to burn the same calories. If your heavier it takes more energy to make you move.

I've been on a healthy eating plan for a few years and it seems to work well for me loosing a pound a week by counting calories, replacing sweets and snacks with fruit and vegetables. Making sure I don't go below the 1000 calories I need to basically survive. My body goes into starvation mode if I do go below 1000 then anything even slightly fatty gets stored instead of used and I put weight on.

Your local boots should have the new weighing scales in.These will give all the info & tell you your ideal weight 4 height etc.
Try swimming this is good and less stress on the bones & joints than running.Dont starve yourself just cut out / down on the sweet things, have a smaller portion at meal time.
Eat at regular intervals,have some fruit,savoury snack every 3 hours.Dont skip breakfast,lunch & dinner.
Dont get too obsessed about the calorie thing

You burn about 100 calories per mile whether you walk or run, just that running is quicker. If your weight is truly dangerous (BMI over 30+), then you might find exercise difficult at first. Try reading Walking magazine or Prevention magazine for tips, or join weightwatchers. To exercise, you need to build up to exercising for an hour, you may not be able to do it at first. Take it easy, rest when you need to. Make your first goal just to exercise each day for 21 days, and build up your time about 5% each week.

In short:

10 minutes of fairly vigorous swimming burns 90 calories.
Swimming is also great exercise because it uses every muscle in your body!

10 minutes of fairly vigorous singles badminton burns 70 calories. Badminton is a very social sport so you can socialise while you exercise!

10 minutes of fairly vigorous Rugby burns 170 calories. Rugby is also very social and addictive!

Hope this helps!
Good luck losing weight and exercising!

Eat healthy (but yummy) and exercise (but fun).

I dont like dieting because it restricts you from eating what you want and doesnt let you live. Instead of eating straight fruits and veggies and ONLY healthy stuff, try eating low fat ice cream (in moderation), frozen blueberries sprinkled with SPLENDA, celery sticks, baked apple crisps, bananas with cinnamon, etc. You can eat healthy food but also have fun with it. Try making your own little meals and snacks that are healthy but are fun to make and also actually tastes decent. I know that plain spinach leaves taste awful so try mixing some stuff in it so that its yummy and tastes good. Dieting doesnt have to be all strict and boring, have fun with it.

Also, you need to exercise! I know as a human being like you, that jogging for hours is no fun, so try speed walking around at the mall. You get to shop and exercise, just make sure that you dont end up drinking a Starbucks frap while your doing that. Instead, walk around with a large cup of iced water and sip on that while you walk and shop. Good luck!

I used to use this website.

http://www.fitday.com/

You input the food you eat (type in the labels from your food containers) and it calculates your activity, your food, and shows you how much you need to do to lose so many pounds.

It keeps track of your weight and there's a graph you can look at.

Some things I do is not eat after about 7:00/8:00 at night, drink my 8-8oz glasses of water a day... then it's another 8oz for every 20 lbs you want to lose. (for a while there, I was drinking a gallon and 1/2 of water every day)

But this site will help.
