Is there a sort of point of no return from the perspective of the Lord.

Now before you answer this question i'd like to input a few perspective situations. For example I mean in the sense of his hand over your live, if for example you were raised the right road/christian upbringing, yet you chose to keep sinning, or lusting, etc. do you believe God will let you err in your ways until you decide to come back to him?

Because I believe ultimately God will forgive those who truly* repent, but my question is that road. Will God sort of "turn his back" on us if we continue a lifestyle of sin?

Thanks

Yes, there is and it is very known to every Christian. It is found in Romans (specifically chapter 6) but it is also found throughout the bible. Repentance is key in Christian doctrine. Repentance literally means you do a 180. If you rob banks and "repent" but rob a bank again next week you have not repented. Do not confuse repentance with a "my bad". It is not a matter of what we believe but what is written. It is silly to believe that you can continue to purposely sin and be Christian. It is not that God turns his back on us it is that we turn our back on him. No one has ever followed Jesus and regretted it; conversely, most of the things we regret are because we turn from Jesus.

Speaking from my own experience, I don't think there is a point of no return. To go with your example, I was raised "the right road", in a Christian home. I hit a rough patch in my life right after high school and I, more or less, turned my back on God. I stopped going to church, I stopped reading my Bible, I stopped praying, I let myself fall further and further into that dark place and I kept sinning, without remorse and without avail. Looking back on that time, I don't think God ever turned his back on me or gave up. He didn't sit idley by while I continued to life a meaningless, sinful life. He kept trying to open my heart to His message of love and forgiveness. And eventually I listened, I realized how foolish I was being and how much God really did love me. He never abandonned me, even when I denied him. Now I am working hard to rebuild my relationship with God. It is difficult some days and I have stumbled quite a lot along the way, but God was there for me throughout it all.

Sure there is a Point of No return, but we humans cannot pinpoint to it for certain and tell someone " you have passed the point of No return...but get this.
Jehovah’s forgiveness is not extended, however, to the person who makes sin a regular part of his life and thus practices it. Such a person has no inclination or desire to strive for the mark God has set. He willfully violates God’s laws, showing no love for righteousness and feeling no remorse for his sins. His conscience becomes seared and insensitive to the wrongness of his ways in the eyes of God. Regarding such a lawless person, the Bible states: “Everyone who practices sin is also practicing lawlessness, and so sin is lawlessness. He who carries on sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning.” (1 John 3:4, 8)

OK I am starring this one to see others opinion's. Being a Southern Baptist I believe as long as you have truly ask God to forgive you, you are forgiven no matter what you done in the past. Yes you can have the "so called correct upbringing" by christian parents, you can stray way, but God will never turn his back on his children, you might think he has, but he hasn't. He has his plan for each of us depending on what we chose to do in our lives. The key word is if you truly believe & ask from your heart to be forgiven.

Nothing a man does is so vile that God can not forgive him. The apostle Paul, before he became a believer, hunted down and had other Christians killed, yet God used him to write a good portion of the New Testament. Scripture tells us that the only sin that is unforgivable is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. What exactly does this mean? This is referring to those that have become believers. Once they have tasted the power and glory of the world to come, for some reason they turn their back on what they have learned and proclaim that it was all dung. If they truly believe that, there is no way for them to get right with God, because they have already stopped believing in the only means of salvation: Jesus. I pray that this may help you, my friend. God bless you in your search for His truth. Sincerely, Robert

In the sense of forgiveness no, there is no point of return in the sense of being used by God or the things he had for your life it depends what you have done. All in all turn to him today and call out to him, you cant change what is done now, get a fresh start with him right now.

There is a point of God turning us over to a repabate mind, but in that case it doesnt bother you if you sin or not,if you still feel conviction when you sin then yes God will forgive you.But I wouldnt want to take the chance.

God will forgive any sin that you commit as long as you are true. The only sin he will not forgive is blastfimy. Which is claiming to be God or the Son of God.

Yes, if we continue in rebellious unrepentant sin. He will remove His blessing on you, in order for you to notice you need Him.

However, I do believe you can return and you will be accepted back any time you choose to return to God.
