there is no legislation. there will never be legislation. units deploy, not people. so just like the case of my cousin, you go to the sandbox for a year, come home, transfer units (which deploys within a month of you arriving) you go. and then while you are there for 15 months you get promoted and get transferred to still another unit, which leaves for the sand box 8 weeks after you get back for another15 months.

there is a general president that says one year deployed in iraq one year at home but it doent alwayse happen that way especially if you change units if a solider stays with the same unit then they get their down time. however if they decide to go to another unit then they deploy with that unit

im not trying to burst anyones bubble but a solider is given a choice every 2 to 3 years rather to stay with his unit he has now or go to another one and soliders know there is a possiblity of being deployed faster if they change units.

if that legislation would have been passed think of how many incomplete units and platoons would be in iraq and that endangers our soliders

this way it keeps the soliders in the units longer and keeps the units complete with plenty of men to fight

im not for this war myself but i want our soliders to be safe and more of them to come home alive

well my husband will be home in may, but he's deployed with a different unit than the one he's orriginally in. so when he gets back, if his orriginal unit gets deployed then they only have to let him have 3 months at home and then he has to go back again. his deployment right now is 18 months so i would say no to that one.
