At that time in the morning it should be fairly quiet. However, I would allow for possible traffic congestion, accidents etc. Normally it should take about 45 minutes. But I would suggest you leave 1 1/2 hours before hand, just to make sure. Better to be early than late.

That depends on conditions. If you have a clear road and no problems, around 30 to 40 minutes. If traffic is heavy, you will take a bit longer. If there's an accident, which is usually expected at that time of morning, expect long delays and if there are roadworks, these will delay you too. The best advice is the only advice that you should take. That is leave early and allow plenty of time. For a 1/2 hour trip, give it 1 hour. Arriving 30 minutes early is far better than 1/2 hour late, especially when you have a flight that could be missed.

It took me 45 mins last week from Glasgow to Edinburgh city, passing the airport.
