Check your resume. I mean, look at your past record and performance. Physical fitness is a must. Good character and an ability to take charge and do what is right even if no one is looking. Sacrifice and service to others are attributes you must possess if you want to be a good cop.

First you need to go to corruption school and learn how to accept bribes, break every law you are about to be taught to uphold and get into a feeding frenzy on the power you think you have when you are a cop.

Good luck with your career choice. First step is to call local agencies and see if any of them put you through the academy or if you have to do it yourself.

My bro in law went to Purdue University and studied forensics...and after graduating went to the police academy and immediately after completing the academy was accepted as a county officer for our county. He always goes above and beyond what most of the other guys do in the county (writes the most tickets, etc.)...bad for citizens but good for serving and protecting as they say. If you want to do it, just go for it and mean it. Good luck!

depending on your age if you are young I would say stay clear of drugs and anything that causes a stain on your criminal record then when you get older you can answer all the questions on your polygraph (lie detector test) with ease and get hired on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anything else you might as well give it up !!!!
