144,000....How many Jehovah's Witnesses are there???

I'm not a JW, however, I do study and seek the accurate truth of knowledge and share as much as I know to those who also seek some answers in today's confusion. From what I've learned the 144,000 people that are and have been pre-selected to go to heaven are the ones that will help rule over the people that make it in to the restored paradise earth after Armageddon. You'd find these verses in a bible...Rev 7:4-9 / Rev 14:1-3 / Rev 5:9, 10 / Rev 20:4 / 1Jo 4:9-14
Acts 4:12 / 1Timothy 4:10

It's written in Revelation 14:1, 7:4 and yes, only these will go to heaven. Revelation 7:9 talks about a 'great crowd' out of all nations and tongues. These will have the earthly hope when Jehovah God brings His Kingdom. It is very clear that the Bible reveals 2 different groups of people.
Wanzanna said that there's no point if there's no hell. The fact is everyone goes there once they die. The original Greek word for 'hell' is actually the common grave of mankind (like those you see at the cemetaries). Even these 144,000 would have to go to 'hell' first before they are carried off the heaven. Whereas those with the earthly hope would have to wait a little longer when Jesus comes to resurrect them.
Death is already our punishment and this is in fact a very heartbreaking point for our Grand Creator who is so full of love. Therefore, why should Jehovah God want to punish us again and again by burning us in hell fire? In ancient times, He said burning children in the fire as sacrifice was not His idea and He detested it, so why should He burn us again when we have already served our punishment by death?
If you really are interested to know more about JWs and your aunt is not very 'informative', may I suggest you talk to one of the other JWs? Ask your aunt to introduce you to them or follow her to the Kingdom Hall for meetings and from there you could present your questions to them.

We would like to go but God decide that only 144000 are the chosen they aren´t Jews only are gentiles also.

the bible explain that only 144000 are redeem form earth (Revelation 14:1-5) the Great crownd we see in Revelation 7 are the people that Jesus said in Matthew 5:5 will inherit the earth, remember from the begining God decided that the earth will be filled of perfect humans (Genesis 1:27) and that should happens (Isaiah 55:11 and Titus 1:1-2).

this is very brief there are several more verse of the bible that support that.

What will Jesus do during his 1000 year kingdom?

Jehovah ´s witness preach that Jesus after Armageddon and destruction of evildoers, Satan and his demons will be "Jailed" for 1000 years in the mean time Jesus will rule the earth with a group redeemed from earth (Revelation 5:10, 14:1-5) will resurrect people (Acts 24:15 and John 5:28-29) will provide food and eliminate famines (Psalm 72:16) will restore the health of humans (Isaiah 35:5-6, 33:24) will eliminate the death and the cause of the death and suffering (Revelation 21:4) in resumen will transform the earth in a great place to live a "new earth" the original purpose of God with Adam and Eve before they sinned (Genesis 1:28) .
After 1000 years , Satan will be release and mankind will have a second test and after that Satan will be cast into the lake of fire (destroyed) and Jesus give the kingdom to his father (Jehovah) (1 Corithians 15:28)

Still haven´t found anyone that can prove this is false, people talk but if you notice don´t use the bible to prove this is false cause is impossible.

If you ask to all people who think that all chirstians go to heaven what happen with the earth during the 1000 years kingd of Jesus in earth you will realize that they don´t know even that is the main message of the whole bible.

As far as I have gathered, they believe that 144,000 will go to live in heaven with God and Jesus, and the rest of the people who are worthy for eternal life will live in Paradise, upon the earth, for eternity.

Edit: If the person who gave me a thumbs down is a JW, and I got my info wrong, please email me so I can know what your doctrine is. The info I've given is what I learned from discussion with Witnesses.

Yes, they really do think only 144,000 are going to heaven. If others are not Jehovah's Witnesses they think they will be "destroyed". The thought is then that there will be a resurrection and the Witnesses will be appointed to teach them. If they do not accept the Witness doctrine they will be "destroyed" at the end of one thousand years.

The why comes to this. In Revalations it says that (and I'm paraphrasing here) of each of the twelve tribes of Israel, 12,000 from each will be saved. 12,000x12=144,000. Most other Christian denominations believe that this means that 144,000 Jews will be converted before the end of days, but the Jehovas Witnesses believe that this is the sum total of everybody that will be saved. As to what happens to everyone else, well, what do other Christians say happen to people who aren't saved?

As you well know, I am not JW. However, they do believe that is the number of people who will be in heaven because of some Bible passage but I am not sure which one. Hopefully, someone who is JW will respond and let you know.

Short and to the point:

Rev. 14:1 mentions that specific number. Those that go to heaven will govern with Christ. Now who will they govern?

All of those left on Earth made into a paradise.

That's because they are told to accept it all on faith and not
to question the elders who mandate all that they do in their
lives. They are controlled thru fear and manipulated thru that
fear, by not being allowed to be one of those 144,000. I
guess these present day believers haven't wondered why
Heaven isn't filled up yet. And the elders wouldn't tell them,
because they want them to peddle their pamphlets and other
books that they make money on at the publishing company
of Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, in New York, to be exact. I've spoken online to many former members who have
left the society and had to say goodby to relatives who were
still members. You see, you can be kicked out, for anything
and your family will not be allowed to let you come home, or
speak to them for the rest of your life. Or they aren't supposed
to. They are told to shun you. I know for our son avoided us
for 15 years and made it hard to find him. But we recently
did. And he told us, he kicked his son, our grandson out of
his home because he didn't want to obey the rules and be
a Jehovahs' WItness. So he's thrown his son away. And he
is just 19. He had no job, no money and was thrown out. This
is one of the most cruel organizations ever, that disguises
itself as a religion. The truth about the JW's can be found in
books in book stores and they can learn the truth, but they
are told to not to do things like that or become too "worldly".
Why they don't even want the children to go on to college to
make something of themselves. Of course they aren't allowed
to be in sports or do any of the normal school things and be
like the rest of the other kids. I think that is why our grandson
was not being a follower. And we are so glad. But we may
never find him to see him again. We last saw him when he
was about three years old. He was last in North Carolina.
And that's all we know.
