I received two similar gifts on the same day from two entirely different individuals with two entirely different spiritual practices...

Just today, I received a small bag of dirt with soil from the "Holy Land" from my aunt. She said it was blessed by a priest.

Later today, I received in the mail a gift from a friend who lives in Canada, who gave me the exact same thing -- a small bag of dirt, only it's from Tibet, and it was blessed by a Tibetan monk...

I feel very blessed. I sense this is a good omen ... but what could it mean?

I think it means that you are surrounded by people in your life who care for you very much and that you are truly blessed. I would keep both bags in a special place in your home to remind you of how loved you are.

Well, it could be just dirt, but it could also be God asking you to make a decision. I personally don't believe that blessing a physical thing (like dirt) does anything for you. I believe God works through people, and not usually through stuff.

Nowhere in the Bible does he tell us to hang on to stuff that would bring us good luck. Why? Because with the God of the universe at your side, who needs a handful of dirt?

sacred dirt is important. My ancestors brought a bag of dirt from the homeland to mix with the "new" land, so that they would have a piece of their culture, and not forget where they came from.

Brings to mind that story about the seed that fell in the good soil.

I don't believe in signs and omens. Everything is by appointment. Are you a gardener or plant person? Otherwise, if you are a sign and omen person, most people throw a handful of dirt on someones coffin. Hope not.

Depends on whether or not it's good top soil or just dirt. One will grow some pretty flowers.

Maybe it means that you should plant something. Or maybe it means that you need to see the blessings in all things, even the dirtiest ones.

it means the level of confusion in your life is so severe that it embodies the reluctance of both parties involved to admit that NEITHER gift is actually holy.

My guess would be that your aunt and friend don't have a clue about your spiritual rooting.

They are making attempts to understand it and you are in their memory.
