My future sister in law and I have been hanging out quite frequently. We've known each other for about 2 years now, but we've always had a hot/cold relationship. For a few weeks, we are chatting and friendly, for the next few weeks we don't really talk or see each other often.

We seem to be getting closer and more like friends. But, how close is too close? How friend-like is too friend-like?

This is my Fi's brother's wife.

Opinions?

If you have sister in laws, what is your relationship with them. I'm especially interested in the wives of spouses (like your husband's brother's wife as opposed to your husband's sister)

You're going to be family.
What's the problem?
Most people claim they have trouble with the in-laws.
If you two are good, it's a plus.

I say get close you are both inlaws to the family and at some point in time you both are gonna feel like your being sat aside, you need to each others support system, for times like when the mother in law is butting into her sons marriages, or at holidays, and family functions when the two of you are feeling a bit left out. Besides, wouldn't you want someone to vent to when your hubby is just hitting every nerve, without offendind anyone. She could be your bestfriend!

I am not married yet, but is something wrong with being friendly with her? In my opinion it's a good thing you guys are getting closer.

Don't ask questions, and you won't be lied to. I would stick to one on one friendship. In other words, don't tell her what you wouldn't want to get back to anyone else.
