Given the current events of today with war and disasters. Do you think we are better off then the your ancestors of the Middle ages?

I think I'll have to defer to the Tale of Two Cities, and say that it's both the best *and* worst of times.

Our understanding of a great many things is phenomenal. We're discovering new things on a daily basis, making connections that we haven't been able to before.

At the same time, though, things are falling apart all around us.

I don't know as we're particularly better off, per se, than the ancients were - but I think we've got more a responsibility, since we're in a time of flux. With the way things are going, we're at a point where what we do is going to decide the fate of the species.

We definitely live in a better time for the sake of our own personal safety. Interesting that you would chose the Middle Ages. Don't you know what happened to pagans in those days? And, FYI, there were no Wiccans alive during the Middle Ages. Wicca is a 20th century religion, developed by Gerald Garner. Witchcraft, on the other hand, is very ancient.

People often confuse the two, probably bc you can be both a Witch and a Wiccan, or one or the other. I'm a Witch but not a Wiccan. And for the sake of my tender flesh not getting burned alive, I am one happy Witch not to be living in the Middle Ages.. I might have to put up with the Fundies, but they can't legally burn me at the stake.

Unfortunatley, the Earth is being mutilated today. Ripped apart and the air polluted. So destruction of real holy places puts me in a position of wanting more in Medieval times.
Well, compared to the Middle ages, I'd say the situation is slightly better concerning tolerance of religion. Therefore, I don't think the burning times will be in full force again. Middle ages was tough, with the plagues, and other diseases. average life span wasn't that long. Very intolerant people at the time and punishments more severe.
The disasters today are on a grander scale I think with bombs and nuclear weapons, I mean people are killing each other, but we have more and harmful weapons to wipe out more people.

But most people walking down the road, won't want to kill you for religious beiefs nowadyas. I don't think....

Better off today, tolerance wise I think.

I feel like I'm better off than my ancestors probably were. So far, no wars or disasters have been a direct threat to me, (I know others aren't this lucky, of course). I suspect that my medieval ancestors probably were often directly threatened by wars and disasters. Currently, I would have to say that this seems a lot closer to the best of times than the worst of times. But, who can say what tomorrow may bring...

o hells yes we live in a better time than our ancestors. there is so much more information available to those who seek it. the world is a lot more tolerant of us in some ways, but i do dread the loss of some of the old ways of the common folk that kept a sense of magick as a part of life alive. this age is far too cynical. i have nothing against science, but it has become too easy for people to not believe in anything at all and to only see what is on the surface.

How many wiccans suffered during the Middle Ages? Seeing as how wicca developed in the 1950s, the answer is zero.

We live in different times, it is worse because of what we have done to the earth, how we have abused her so, neither with current events of war & natural disasters, there has always been war and natural disasters, this has not changed, better because of all the modern conveniences and medical care, I certainly like drinking water that is purified, and indoor plumbing, can't beat it.

Pagans and wiccans are far better off in our society today. They are now invited to barbecues as guests rather than the main course.

there are various ignorant human beings in this international. possibly you may invite truly all human beings to come lower back and notice that pagans are solid variety and worshipful human beings too. The Vigil of Saman or Samhain will quickly be upon us."All Hallows Eve", have an open abode in this present day and instruct the ignorant plenty on your community. or you ought to basically decrease your self to their point of lack of information and combat against people who stay in stupidity of the techniques of you and particularly some others faith. At least there are no Pogroms of Jews or Pagans in the greater majority of the world's nations or churches.
