What I normally do when I wake up in the morning is fill a 2 litre bottle of water up and consume it all within 10 mins. Then I count that as my 2 litres for the day and don't bother drinking any more water is this ok? I'm a lazy person and I don't like carrying bottles around with me so I find it easier to just drink the 2 litres straight away.

You're running th risk of water intoxication which can be fatal. Youy need to space out your intake of water throughout the day for it to have any value.

m-c-m-k,
From my knowledge what you are doing is not the best idea for a solution to consuming your daily H20 intake. Drinking that much water at once can actually do harm to you're bodies electrolytes especially if you decide to drink that much water at once after a period of moderate to intense activity (such as exercise, yard work, cardio stuff..). If you want to be on the safe side maybe drinking 1/2 in the morning and the other 1/2 during the middle of the day would be a safer route. Also, you can specialize your water intake according to how much you weigh. On average thinner individuals need less water vs. heavier ones!

I did that and all it does it make you go to the bathroom every ten minutes for 3 hours and supposedly really damages your liver and you need to do that with alcoholic beverages only . You need to take it briefly throughout the day.Just drink like half a liter put it away before lunch so you eat less , before and after you workout or do some kind of activity and then again before bed.All you need is 2 liters ( I heard it's just 1 and 1/2 liters now) in 24 hours. try take like 2 glasses of 8 oz glasses nearby 3 to 4 times the whole day your up.

Think you're saving time?
What about all that time after consuming the 2 liter, spent in the bathroom?

That is the basis for cleaning out your intestines for a colonoscopy.

You are better off to drink liquids spread over your waking time.

this is dumb and dangerous!! you can die from excessive rapid consumption of water!! Its in the news,, people have died from this,, thinking it was better to chug water than booze in a contest,, also your body will pass that two liters of water in just a couple of hours,, then it needs more as the day goes on!! what you are doing is NOT ok...

I dont think it's too bad but I wouldn't advise it. You could get water toxic shock and get very sick. I warn you, cut down on the amount you drink at once take breaks. Dont risk your life over...water.

If you start feeling sick or dizzy at all while drinking water, you need to stop.

There is such a thing as water toxic shock.

It can kill you.

I don't think that amount is going to hurt you, though.

No it is not okay. Water intoxication can kill you. That is to much water to drink all at once.

It's a large stress on your electrolyte balance.
Your body will dump what it doesn't need pretty quickly.
Depending on weather , could leave you dehydrated later.
