Romans 10:9 says that if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved. It does not exclude demons from this, yet I'm pretty sure somewhere else in the Bible it says that demons can't be saved. I also have never read a passage of Scripture wherein demons called Jesus "Lord", so I figure even if that verse did apply to them, none of them did what was required, and thus none were saved (as far as we know).
Does anybody know if there are nuances to the original Greek, or other supporting verses, that would rule out demons being included in the audience of Romans 10:9?

* I'm looking for answers with other scriptural references. James 2:19 doesn't count, I'm aware that demons believe in Jesus and that He is who He says He is.
* Gnostic, nowhere in the Bible (that I've read) does it say that demons have EVER confessed Jesus as Lord, as that would be a statement of allegiance. They call Him the "Son of God" and the "Holy One of God", but not "Lord".
* Connie, could you point me towards the verse that talks of the demons' eventual fate? I can't find it, thanks.
* Pastor Art, could 'water' not refer to literal water, and when paired with the Spirit does it not usually refer to baptism? Water baptism and baptism of the Spirit, as mentioned elsewhere in the NT?

* ephod07, yours is the most useful answer so far; would you perhaps have any scriptures to reinforce your opinion?

Yes, there are no nuances.
Christ did not become a demon. He became a (hu)man, to redeem (hu)mankind. Hell was created for demons. Christ is not going to redeem demons, because they do not want to be "redeemed". They want to stand in their own "right" at the judgement. Being redeemed is an act of faith that we stand in the "right" of Christ, not our own right.
Men act somewhat in ignorance, which is why God offers salvation. Demons act in full knowledge, which is why they are not offered redemption - they don't want it.
The Gospel is for humans.

One has to be able to love in order to be saved. Demons know Christ is Lord and confess it already. His commands are to love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. Since God is love you have to have a little of God in you to do that. No matter what you call God or what scripture you follow if you love then you do confess Christ is lord even if you think it's Pan, or Odin or any number of other words. You love and become part of the divine.
Demons can't love and neither can anyone who serves their master. Demons know that Christ is Lord and confess it just as many people do but without the love it's just confusion and darkness.

There is a spiritual healing technique called remote depossession or spirit releasement. Dark elementals, or what you would call a demon, attaches itself (it's energy) to you. This can cause a variety of illnesses, both physical and mental. It's influence can be incredibly destructive to an individual. Many individuals with substance abuse issues have this type of attatchment. The energy, while destructive, is essentially incredibly stupid and very single minded in it's purpose.
The dark elementals are released when they see the spark of God within them, and they ultimately become beings of light. They transform. Spirit releasement on a dark elemental is very intense, and Archangel Michael steps in. (To say he is fierce would be an understatement.) Again, the end result is that the demon is not only saved, but he is becomes an angel again.

"salvation" is reserved for human beings. Demons were all once angels in Heaven, with God and Jesus, so they already knew the Truth, and knew the most High God and His Son Jesus Christ. Once they chose to follow Satan into hell, there was a fixed void between Heaven and hell.
Furthermore, they were all angels, so, like I said, they weren't in the same category as human beings, who need salvation. The angelic rebellion of the heavenly hosts is different from the sons and daughters of Adam who were born into rebellion because of Adam's sin.

That question can only be answered by God.
Although, until we get the chance to ask, I would say probably not. God sent his son to die for US, not fallen angels like satan and demons. But, since God is the God of forgiveness an love, you never know!

See John chapter 3:
In particular verses 5 and 6.
5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.
Verse 6 interprets verse 5 which is seen more clearly in the Greek than in English.
You must be born of flesh, that is be human, since born of water refers to human childbirth like when a pregnant girl says, "Get me to the hospital quick, my water broke!"

The Bible says they are reserved for everlasting destruction, and the Bible says God cannot lie, so since the Bible in it's entirety is the inspired word of God, your answer is NO.

Demons are fallen angels who lived with God and knows God and truth, yet they chose to follow Lucifer instead of continuing their fellowship with God in Heaven. NO, they cannot be saved. Their eternal destiny is foretold in the Bible as the eternal lake of fire. Their verdict came in way back when they fell, we're just waiting for the execution. They made their choice long ago. We will make our choice in this lifetime-----neither their's or ours is reversable once we die!!

no but apparently they can be controlled and forced to do acts for a christian person to control a demon you must have a pentalpha(a shape) with the unknown name of god in it. solomon was given a ring by an angel that had this on it which he used to contain and control demons.

No, they were already condemned when they chose to follow Lucifer instead of God.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Matthew 25 (in context)
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Verse 41 proves that they cannot now, come unto salvation.
