Revelation 22:16 says:
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star." You could take this verse to mean that Jesus Christ Himself is the Star of David.
Is it possible that early Hebrew Christians referred to the "Star of David" as the Messiah, and the context was later forgotten but the symbol remained?
Any comments and criticisms are welcome.

If it is only a star, then why refer to it specifically as "The Star of David"?

I can never accept the idea that the Bible has been changed. There is just too much evidence that we have authentic manuscripts from very ancient times. I believe that God Himself has preserved the text of scripture down to this day.

The Star of David is merely a modern adaptation of the geometric shape of a six-point star.
You can google its origin and learn about it in more authentic detail rather than your own suppositions.
