I imagine that if this the best the current deity can do; a "perfect" one could have done a lot better.

The question in contradictory, and therefore logically invalid. You cannot assume that mutually exclusive opposites are both true. You cannot say, "God exists," as have that be true and say, "God does not exist," and have that be true at the same time... they are mutually exclusive.
It would be like saying, "2+2=4" and "2+2 does NOT equal 4." You cannot have both statements true at the same time.
Therefore your question is logically contradictory, invalid, and cannot be answered. (Oh, I'm sorry... we Christians are not supposed to be able to think for ourselves, are we... NEVERMIND!)

Assume that God doesn't exist,,now how would the world look different if he did? Nope..it still doesn't make sense,,,even turned around....must be you and not my headache...but I can take an aspirin for that!!!!!

If we assume God exists, then we know that God created the world.
If God did not exist, the world could not look the same. It would not exist!
