I have been hearing loads of horse crap on how Christians are not abided to the O.T. anymore. Jesus himself gave many versus on how the O.T. is still to be followed, yet you Christians give excuses on how you do not need to follow it. You say Jesus died for us so you live under grace. You say those rules only applied for the Jews. Jesus clearly said that the Jews were an example nation of how we should follow. Whatever, give me a verse where it is CLEARLY stating what you Christians claim of not needing to abide to the O.T.
Don't give me ambigious verses. I have CLEAR verses that the O.T. still applies ( search question:"What makes Christians believe they are not obligated to live by the laws of the OT when Jesus Himself said so?") do you Christians have any CLEAR verse where you can be disclaimed from the O.T. that Jesus so clearly stated was the law to behold and upkeep??
Hit me with your best "verse" to disclaim you from the vicous God in the O.T. I repeat only "verses"!!!

Is there space to write the entire Bible here or do you want the cliff notes? Christ fulfilled the law. We are not under any law but by faith are changed and made new and are in agreement with God's righteousness. We do not worship God in traditions of law but in spirit and truth.
Let's begin the lesson in Mat. 5:
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou ashalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 aAgree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid athe uttermost farthing.
27 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

We learn that Christians are to do more than the legal requirement of the law.

Continue on to Mat. 15:

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Now we see that the laws of unclean food is fufilled.
All law is fufilled by the atonement. God could write a book about it...as a matter of fact he did.

Mat 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the aheart proceed evil thoughts, bmurders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Now lets think about what Jesus taught...God gave man the law...For what purpose? So that man could be righteous like God? Nope man can not be righteous like God it is the reason Christ came to the world God is all knowing and knew man would sin. it is the reason the Bible says the lamb was slain before the foundation fo the world.
Ok lets see what we have learned so far...God gave man the law knowing man would fall from his glory....Man sinned and thus a seperation between man and God. God is all knowing and knew this before he created the world and had a plan to be a savior for his people.

God is a righteous God and could not be joined to sin. The wages of sin is death.
God came to the world in the form of man to pay man's penalty fo death for those who would accept the atonement.
This FUFILLED the law.
How is that? This brings God's creation to his righteousness the penalty fo death is paid. Man now by faith is made new and in agreement wiht God's righteousness no need for law as we are in agreement with the law and non longer under the law. Now we have this by faith we have not literaly died and been reborn....Now this is the short version but the truth is available in the Bible the OT and the NT and they are in perfect agreement and God's law has not passed a way but is fufilled by the atonement...To understand this better I would recommend Romans 6 and reading and studing the Bible and seeking Gods truth in his word and prayer and meditiation.

And in the OT only the Jews were offered the gift of forgiveness & eternal life. The blood sacrifice of a spotless animal was required. It had to be presented by the High Priest in the Holy of Holies for them to be forgiven. When Jesus Christ came & died He did so for both Jews & Gentiles alike. God Himself TORE the veil of the Holy of Holies from top to bottom in a clear indication that the sacrifice of spotless animals was no longer required for redemption of sin. If He took it upon Himself to change the very way that people received forgiveness but also allowed that forgiveness to cover ALL instead of just the Jews why do you feel it's such a stretch for Him to make new laws for us to follow?

I am not here to counter your thinking on this matter but willing to share what Paul did say and practice for you to incorporate in your thought to see what it will germinate for you !!!
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
19For(A) though I am free from all,(B) I have made myself a servant to all, that I might(C) win more of them. 20(D) To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21To(E) those outside the law I became(F) as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but(G) under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22(H) To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak.(I) I have become all things to all people, that(J) by all means I might save some. 23I do it all for the sake of the gospel,(K) that I may share with them in its blessings.

A child of God is one who abides in Jesus and Jesus abides in Him. This is what Jesus said and he added more by saying the Father would send us the Holy Spirit who would abide with us forever. He never said the O.T. would abide with us. Also abide means to accept without objection.

I would like to answer your question the way you want it answered, with verses alone, but that may not do it for you.
But I kindly ask you to consider this.

When Jesus was sent to Earth, the Scriptures of course were what we know of as the Old Testament. As one of your answerers pointed out, the Old Testament is loaded with the wisdom of God which is demonstrated through the Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the prophets, Job, and the Song of Solomon. In these books and the historic books, God showed Himself to the world, and it is through these writings that Jesus and the apostles, and their churches learned about how God works, thinks, acts, and what He expects of His creations.

What we know of as the Old Testament was the "Bible" to the first century. That wisdom and knowledge of God is still applicable today, and those that read the Bible will attest to that.

Now when Jesus came on the scene, as he was prophecied to in the OT, all that his arrival on Earth signalled was that the law of Moses - that is the law that the Hebrews couldn't keep anyway, did not need to be followed any longer. Jesus taught a new, guaranteed way to worship God. Jesus did not over rule or do away with the Scriptures, just the intricate, complicated laws that God had the Hebrews or Israelites of the Exodus till Jesus follow.

God Himself, through Ezekiel said, ( Ezekiel 20:25:) Moreover I gave them statutes that were not good and ordinances by which they could not have life; 26 and I defiled them through their very gifts in making them offer by fire all their first-born, that I might horrify them. I did it that they might know that I am the LORD.

But Jesus did give us statutes by which we can attain to eternal life.

Even Moses prophecied about Jesus saying, (Deuteronomy 18:18) "I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brethren; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. 19 And whoever will not give heed to my words which he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him.

So Jesus came and taught his apostles and disciples the new Way which superceded the old way. The Pharisees et al rejected him and did not believe that he was the same prophet that Moses predicted, even though they saw all the miracles he performed. (Because they kept the purpose of God for themselves)

Galatians and Hebrews in particular, point out that Jesus showed us the way to get to God, and that the "law" was null and void any longer.

Hm?

It says no where in the Bible that we can't abide in the Old Testament.

The Old Testament is a wonderful collection of faith and trust in God. For example, Psalms is an entire book of poems by David while he was hiding from his enemies.

The Songs of Solomon are another example.

We must trust in God and put our faith in Him.

Now, we are not supposed to sacrifice and do all those rituals in the Old Testament, because Jesus was the last sacrifice to be made.

He made the ever so wonderful sacrifice of himself so that we can be saved.

And it's true "If ye love me, keep my commandments"

We gotta keep his commandments.

do I make sense?

Christianity is often generalized. There are many religions out there that actually hold on to- if not embrace, the OT. I think you should inform yourself a bit more instead of just bitterly spitting out your wrath to the world.

Hey "buddy" i MUST prove nothing to you! I know why certain things in the old testament are no longer done - Because the reasons they were done no longer exist. ie- animal sacrifice was done in similitude of the sacrifice of the Saviour and is no longer required because Christ died and rose again. Just bcos i dont' have the verse on hand to back it up doesn't mean my answer is worthless and noone can "prove" ANYTHING to you unless you are open to it- your question is so obviously biased towards a particular answer- so why "MUST" i do anything to satisfy you?

Jesus is God Jesus has defied human heritage for 2,000 years. he's the main stated guy or woman in this international. there has been greater written approximately Jesus than all of us else interior the international. there have been greater songs sung and greater video clips made approximately Jesus that anybody else interior the international. guy’s repute is fleeting. Christ’s repute is continually. Jesus is greater effective than in simple terms the founding father of Christianity; he's Christianity. in case you replace all of us else for Jesus - Christianity will cave in. Jesus by no ability went to varsity; He by no ability held an workplace; He by no ability wrote a e book; yet human beings observed Him and worshiped Him. at present some religions practice that He replaced right into a great guy; some practice He replaced into God’s spirit toddler; some practice Jesus replaced right into a prophet and messenger of God; some say Jesus replaced right into a ethical guy, a solid instructor. between the main hardship-loose rules of excellent judgment is the regulation of non-contradiction. 2 statements with regards to the comparable situation can't the two be actual in the event that they contradict one yet another. So Jesus is the two God or he replaced right into a liar. If he replaced right into a liar, how can different religions believe him to be a solid instructor or prophet? If He have been a liar, why could He die for His declare whilst He ought to even have prevented any such cruel dying. Jesus is God. with the aid of fact of this, after 2,000 years, he remains the main stated guy or woman in heritage. with the aid of fact of this, after 2,000 years, lives are nonetheless being replaced and that they credit that fluctuate to Jesus. you have lived a million/2 your existence, do no longer wait till it incredibly is in simple terms too previous due. Please positioned your believe and faith in Jesus and have eternal existence.

Christians are required to follow the laws brought into the world by Jesus. Paul warns us that to try to live by the old law is to know sin.

Christians are charged to accept Christ as their savior, to love God with all their being, love their neighbor as they love themselves, and to help the weak and destitute. That is it.

Got a clue?

24 Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. 25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.
