I regrettably cut someone off on the road today, they drop up beside me and swerved into my lane, grazing my driverside mirror. There was a very minor scrathc the size of my pinky.
The car then sped in front of me and stopped in the middle of the road. Passenger got out, and began approaching my car. Feeling threatened for my own well being, I drove off and decided to get a safe distance away before stopping. 5 minutes after I got home, an officer showed up saying a report had been filed. I explained the situation, and he seemed very understandin. He found the incident to be so minor that he did not write up a report for me.
I now got a call saying I've been cited for leaving the scene of an accident...I feel like this is wrong since I was the one who was hit and the officer who showed up at my house failed to make a report....what should I do?????

You're one of the few people who don't have a cell phone. You got home, and 5 minutes later the Police show up, and tell you a report was made, but didn't make up a report for you. Only one report is necessary. You didn't supply the Police with any information, and you still received a call saying you were cited for leaving the scene of an accident, but have no citation. Sorry. Accordingly to your time element, and information supplied, this could never have happened the way you described it.

who called and said you are being cited? do you have the name and badge # of the officer that came to your house. call them and speak to them about the call to see if it's legit or not.
and no matter if you are the vic or susp if you leave the scene of an accident you can be charged with a hit and run.
that's why it's a good reason to keep a cell on you so you could have called 911 and reported to them that the other driver was making you afraid by their actions so the responding officer could step up their response before things escalated.
and in ref to the officer "failing" to make a report... generally officers don't make reports for accidents where the damage is under a certain $ amount anyway so that's probly why the original officer didn't make a report.

There is a police report. Someone wrote one that supports the charges against you. Go to the police department and ask for it.
Then, go to court and tell your story. You might want a lawyer to help you--be prepared to explain why you didn't call the police as soon as you were in a safe location. It took some time for the police to respond to the other guy's complaint, run your license plate and find your address and then get to your house. If you were law abiding but just afraid, why didn't you make the call?

The officer replaced into understand-how besides the reality that it looks like yet somebody else filed a criticism. Get a replica of the place of work artwork. presented what you suggested replaced into precise you're able to be waiting to document expenses against him for combating contained in direction of the line and in all probability reckless making use of. in accordance to his strikes or statements on an identical time as he approached your motorcar there could be a a threat value for the threats or threatening strikes(in spite of the long island value is). call the officer that shown up at your place and seek for advice from from him. He regarded understand-how and can be waiting to grant you greater desirable appropriate advice.

There were no injuries and little damage. Stick to your story and explain about being concerned for your safety and that you now realise you should have driven straight to a police station to report the matter. I don't blame you for not stopping when you read about all these road rage cases but you should have reported it. Good luck.

Go to court and enter a plea of not guilt. Go to trial and explain what happened. You should be fine.
