He never did. He is a perfect reflection of God, but a reflection isn't the same as God.

Jesus, pbuh, was a most beautiful Prophet of God, but was, is and never will be God.

Jesus claimed to be God's OWN Son

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and ONLY Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."(John 3:14-17)NIV

and who is Lord of the sabbath?

Jesus said, "I tell you that one greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath." (Matthew 12:6-8)NIV

Jesus also claimed to have existed before Abraham was born:

"You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to Him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "BEFORE Abraham was born, I AM!" (John 8:57-59)NIV-obviously not an ordinary mortal human being.

Now, for God to have an actual Son of His own, after His own kind, His Son would have to be divine, not human. Recently, scientists have produced clones of animals and are working on perfecting exact reproductions of the original animal. If humans can produce clones, is God not also able to produce One out of His own essence?

So, Jesus did not claim to be God, His Father but He did claim to be God's own Son-divine but living inside a human body.

John 7
John 8:42-59 (and many other places.)
This John 8 reference was so upsetting to the Jews, that they sought to stone Jesus for saying the He was the great "I AM."

"I AM" is the name that God told Moses to tell the children of Israel when they would ask him Who it was that spoke to him and directed him. (Exodus 3:14)

John 10:30,31
John 14:7
Have you even read the Bible yet?

Jesus always said he was the Son of God and also called himself son of man, what most people believe is that when Jesus said; when you see me, you see the Father also. What Jesus was saying was that he is exactly like his Father, he is the perfect image of his Father, but not the Father.

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Ex. 3:14

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” John 8:58

Either Jesus was the most blasphemous man on the face of the earth or He was telling the Truth. He is Almighty God.

God can't lie. Titus 1:2

Here's a few places:

Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I AM: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. :63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? :64 Ye have heard the blasphemy:...

John 8:19 Then they said unto Him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. 20 These words spake Jesus in the treasurey, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

John 8:24, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

Jesus rewards those who worship Him:
Mat 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper **and worshipped him,** saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mat 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus is the son of God. So his father is God.
