I live in a a small Wa city well known for its anti-social behavior and I feel safe but what happened to to those two people could happen anywhere that's why they are called opportunistic crimes and the punishment should fit the crime which is the most annoying thing that it usually doesn't.
However when I do go to Perth and catch the train I don't feel safe and I couldn't believe the difference I felt travelling on Melbourne trains and walking around their streets.

Yes, I feel safe here in SA. There have been a couple of murders over the past few days in SA, but they have been over disputes between people who know each other. Despite that I don't really see any cause for fear.

YES....Absolutely ..I live in a small town in Texas, USA...the population is only 1800 or so .....everyone is very very friendly....we can sleep with our windows open at night .....leave our doors unlocked.....I've never heard of any crime here either...the police mostly deal with traffic (speeders) since our speed limit here is only 30-35 mph.....or domestic issues..i have a police scanner to listen to and i never hear anything serious...I Iove it here :o)

I feel very safe in northern NSW but then I did in Sydney too. The crime rate is low and most people have no problems at all.

I feel very safe where I live (New South Wales). Low crime rate, good neighbours, excellent police force, no drug dealers that I know of - very safe.
