Frustrated all the time about feeling worthless- Not because I'm furstrated at being worthless, but I'm frustrated in particular because I know I shouldn't be thinking like that and I am. Random bouts of depression that can last for days with me being in bed, lacking motivation to do anything, including non-eating. Then suddenly I feel great and escatic for no particular reason... Then it happens again. I get random bouts of anger over little things whilst I'm on my own and out of bed, I feel like breaking something. I'm starting to get a little carried away with my ocd, if I leave fingerprints on a smooth surface it gets to a point where I get horribly annoyed.

I'm 18. I never used to be this mood swingy.

Does anyone know what could've caused this? :s I don't seem to have any reason to be like this.. Which often seems to frustrate me more.

Tired. All the time.
Can't be asked to see friends that I know mean the world to me.
Just lying in bed all the time..
I'm a pretty healthy eater. I know it can't be my diet.

Not too keen on the idea of being, "Fixed up"..

Would preferably like to do something on my own if possible rather than seeking a psychotherapist.. if possible

A lot of what you are describing sounds like the effects of a clinical depression, it could be bipolar, or could be medical problem, or both, If you have a regular Dr. you should call there and make an appointment. This way at least they can rule out other problems that has the same symptoms of Depression, and make a referral if needed.

In the mean time try to when ever these feelings start to overcome you which sounds like a lot, replace each one with a positive. Keep pushing away the negative thoughts with positive ones, and it becomes easier.

Try to get out a little, even if it is for 5 minutes. Remember that everything you do when you dont really feel like it, deserves a pat on the back, even if it is "just" getting out of bed..

Even if your diet is healthy you could benefit from taking a b-complex vitamin, they really make a difference in the way your funtions, and others have had good results with fish oil tablets.

Dont be hard on yourself most people get in a slump at times, keep in mind every little thing you do and finish, then pat your self on the back.

the symptoms you are describing sound awfully like bi-polar disorder, which can be treated with medications. I'm bi-polar, and it's a helluva ride when you aren't sure what's going on. The mood swings are just the tip of the iceberg. There's impulse control issues, some people feel physical pain for no real reason, all sorts of not-so-wonderful things. Left untreated, it sometimes leads to suicidal tendancies. When I'm manic, anything in my house with printing on it has to be faced & alphabetical...CDs, books, cans in the pantry...my temper is really explosive, I spend like I'm Paris Hilton, don't sleep, feel bullet-proof. When the swing goes the other way & I'm depressed, it's no getting out of bed, long bouts of weeping, can't leave the house if I do get out of bed, won't talk to my friends, even on the phone...in the past I've felt like killing myself, but lacked the motivation to do anything about it. Get yourself seen by a professional & get into treatment.

I used to scream or cry or go in a huge ***** with everyone around me, but recently I found out that if you sit comfortably, put your hands on you knees, close your eyes, and just get in touch with your breathing, keep it at the same pace, and once you have regulated it, then breath in and out 21 times, breath in, and out, and when you breath out count 1. So its in out 1, in out 2, etc. Do it 21 times and then start over until you think you have calmed down. If you are so frustrated you can't manage to sit still and breath, or can't afford the time to do this, then maybe bite something (a piece of cloth for example) or you could just scream but that would turn a few heads! It does sound a little weird but it works for me! Hope this helped! XxX

I'm no doctor, Jess? But it seems like you just have a little chemical brain imbalance which some medication and a little psychotherapy would fix up very well.

Want to try it? I could almost tell you for sure you would feel a whole lot better!

I've been in therapy for years because of chronic health problems (yeah! Mental Health issues.) I'm telling you! It feel so much better to get some medication and to talk to someone you can trust to be silent and to understand from where you are coming from!

Well, you're not able to do much solution seeking on your own like you say you would prefer if you stay in bed all day for days on end. You sound like you could be bi-polar. You have got to get yourself to a doctor and get on some medication.

sorry my friend, but what you are describing is a classic case of bipolar disorder. Many people who have OCD also have bipolar. The only thing that you can do is go back to your doctor, tell him/her what is going on and add another med to the cocktail. My sister is exactly the same way. When she takes her meds she is fine. But then she starts to feel better so she stops taking her meds and her life falls apart. PLEASE do yourself a favor and get help immediately. You don't have to live like this. I promise!

From what you've posted you are beyond trying to help yourself.....you don't want to be "fixed up" but to my unofficial non-medical way of thinking you REALLY need the help of a professional....you need to go to your doctor and explain your symptoms fully. It kind of sounds to me like it might be Bipolar Disorder, a type of depression. Please put aside your ism's,schism's, pride, or whatever problem you have with being "fixed up" and seek professional help immediately..mostl likely it will only get worse if you don't get help right away.

Sounds like you have a bi-polar disorder. Bouts of depression followed by bouts of high energy. See a pro.

The best thing you "can do on your own" is to go see a professional therapist. If something was wrong with our car you would take it to a mechanic, so why don't you do that for yourself? It is better to go to someone who is a professional than to try to figure out what took them years to learn.

Sounds like depression.. You need to get help and put on a anti-depressant. Does not have to be long term on meds, just something to help you. Good Luck
