I'd consider it. I tend to be a 'case by case basis' type of person.
My first thought is that a severe heat warning means Quella Bella's in the area ;^)

I too live in Mo., the heat is quite oppressive and isn't going to let up any time soon. 97 degrees where I am right now. 10:40 pm. About the neighbor, sure but then I have known them for 10 yrs.

It's not wise to "guilt" people into allowing neighbours to move in with them just because it's hot out. In fact, unless you know your neighbour like a brother or sister ... it could be downright dangerous!
If anyone feels compelled to exhibit love of your neighbour, then do these things:
1. Check on the elderly once in a while
2. Lend someone an AC unit or a fan
3. Buy some little hand fans and give as gifts when you visit a "hot" neighbour
4. Invite neighbours you know well over for dinner if you have AC and they do not. At least they'll be cold for a while.
But, DON'T BRING STRANGERS INTO YOUR HOUSE! A little bit of sweating never hurt anyone. If people are really hot, they can go window-shopping at an indoor mall for a few hours to cool down. They can drink water or cool drinks to lower their body temperature. They can sit in their bathtub and read in cool water. Any number of remedies for the heat can be found by regular, able-bodies people.
NO. I WOULDN'T LET MY NEIGHBOUR MOVE IN!
PS. I live in downtown Toronto. It might be safer in a small town
:)

Yeah Id let them move in for like those 10days or till there a/c got fixed. We had that happen a few years ago when I lived in Utah and it hit 115 during the day and barley hit below 80 by 4 am and our neighbors a/c brook and wouldn't get fixed for 2 days so we let them "move" in to our family room for those 2 days so they didn't fry.

All I can say is that is normal temperature, all summer long where I live in the outback (bush) of Australia...
During the day in your temp, it can get to about 120F in the water bag...
If you are not used to it then it can be very uncomfortable...
I would let my neighbour in if they were stressed from the heat..
Also the best and cheapest way to combat heat I have found is to have ceiling fans, you cannot beat them....
Blessed Be... )O(

Neighbor that I know well - yes.
I live in the middle of an urban jungle, so anyone coming in my house has to be someone I know well.
I would gladly volunteer at a cooling center, tho.

I grew up without air conditioning.
And we would never think of asking our neighbors with air conditioning if we could come into their house.
Stay in the shade and drink plenty of water.
A fan helps to circulate the air.

I stay in the damn house except the very late/early morning hours when it is coolest. Thank the gods for 24 hour stores.
And yes, I surely would - it's only kindness.
