if you have mood swings alot and tend to get emotional over things that seem unimportant in retrospect. Ask your friends if you're moody and if they're honest they'll probly tell you the truth.

You know I didn't know until I went overboard one day and had a mental inquest warrant issued and was taken by police to the hospital. Other people around me knew it. I had unbelievable energy, I talked very fast, I was easily angered and at times violent. I was sexually innapropriate, all I thought about was sex. I became obsessed with certain people. I could go days without sleeping. I once spent all my rent money on new clothes and had no way to pay the rent, and didn't really care either. I took risks, put myself in danger without a thought. I laughed VERY loud, I talked loud too. And I had no idea that anything was wrong with me. So I got put in the hospital and diagnosed, I spent two weeks, they started me on depakote and slowly I evolved into a person that exhibits none of the charachteristics I just described, although sometimes I still laugh too loud, somethings can be pretty funny. Now I take lithium and I have never been so peaceful in my life, you couldn't pay me to go off of my medicine. I used to look back at my behavior and feel totally humiliated by it, especially by the fact that I was SO messed up and had no clue whatsoever, but I have learned to take it easy on myself, that things were out of my control. I was very mad at the people that took out the inquest warrant on me, but now I know it was lifesaving. I honestly believe that if they hadn't I would be dead today, probably by somone elses hand. Today I see a therapist and a psychiatrist on a regular basis. I always take my medicine.

Quit trying to be on the receiving side of health care. You are nuts and no amount of therapy will help you and it just makes the therapists richer. They're all phonies and greedy people trying to make a living on your self doubt. There's no such thing as Bi-Polar and there isn't any cure for stupid. Relax, think about it. Have some guts and face the world as it is.

yeah, moody is one symptom--but also your moods could be extreme--one way or the other. When your depressed you will really be down not just a day but on going. When your mood is up again, your so up that you are that you could actually feel "high"--there are ways to be tested and your best way to really know would be to talk to your doctor or even a mental health proffessional. I have been diagnosed w/this and still fight it every day of my life but w/medication and continuing to see my doctor I function alot better. Good luck!
