Deer don't explode in flames of course, and cars don't just burst into flames, like in the movies. I can't imagine what would cause a fire after hitting a deer, unless there was a gas can in the van, somebody was smoking and the cigarette ended up in the upholstery, etc. More details are needed about the fire and the age/model of the van before I comment on a possible defect.

No. There's dozens of reasons a vehicle could catch fire after striking a solid object. Be glad you weren't injured or killed.
